Does anyone know how to resolve the medical breakthrough quest, or what it even is about? I have its icon pop up in the lower left, saying the quest is active, but nothing about what to do next. Apparently it has to do with selling the patent for Dengue Fever, but I've already sold it and the icon still shows up. Any help is appreciated.

It is marked 'Abandoned' because nobody has heard anything from the dev at all in many months - since around October last year I think.
The stuff about Ukraine is pure speculation based on pretty much nothing, as far as I can tell. It might be right, in the same way he might have just given up, might have fallen ill, might have converted to some ultra-strict religious sect that forbids pornography, or might have been abducted by aliens.
damn, he was one of my favorites, I was looking forward to play his next update. Hopefully, whatever he is dealing isn't anything major

It's certainly a very sad thing to see this abandoned. Even though most didn't appreciate it, or even have the basic levels of understanding to do so (judging it on the visuals of the paperdolls), this game was pretty close to unique in the adult gaming area. It is literally the only game I can easily think of that is a genuine sandbox (rather than free roam). The coding in it, the mechanics, were always incredibly ambitious, and effective, pushing the absolute limits of what Ren'Py could do (with a lot of extra Python coding).
brother was pushing it to make something good, and was welcoming to people to add their own twist and changes into his game through mods. Hopefully he comes back, or someone pulls a similar game like this one.
I guess I'll be putting onto my list "hopefully that dev comes back" after grenovo.

What we do know, is in October, Vren stated that his family got covid and as well as Vren and had to concentrate on that, think there was one more post after that, and some activity on Git in Oct that was Vren,
any speculation beyond that is purely that,
But the game lives on as the Modded version of the game is still being worked on.
So where is this Reformulate mod actually going? I checked discord and couldn't find any sensible info there.

pretty simple, could have asked on discord also, Take vanilla last full release, take the original bugfix, and mod, merge together upgrade to RenPY to 8.1 as a new base for the game, throw in a few new items. keep it open source.
