Yeah, I have the same feeling that I am not going to be happy when we reach the ending, that nothing but bad things are coming soon once Stephanie explains why she left. Though Drifty did say he had something like 58 endings and I'd hope not all of them are bad. I wonder if he has a "canon" ending in mind.

I suspect there will be a few canon good endings per girl or group of girls. Also I suspect both Steph and Cece may well have a very bad ending if fuck them up in a bad way, where either those girls or MC might end up death or something close. Linda may well be wrapped up with Cece or have her own trouble as well. lexi well we will see, actually the two bisexuals seem most normal but that final sentence from Robin first time they meet to herself: I did not tell that to protect her, but you .....
Many games have 4 or 5 good ends and 1 bad ending.
That's actually one of my biggest problems with this game. He made all the girls too lovable, well except for steph (but i have my own reasons for not liking her). Originally wanted to play the game going down one route (since most games punish you for going out with more then 1 girl at a time) but all the girls are just so great so now i feel like an asshole doing things with all of them.I suspect there will be a few canongood endings per girl or group of girls. What if... <pauses to put a high quality tin foil hat on> Linda had a kid by Matt, she left High School and moved away because she got knocked up, and she didn't want to tell the MC? Cece doesn't know because it all happened before they met and Linda didn't tell her who was the father of her child.
Yeah, it is confusing. I am frustrated by Stephanie as a character because she doesn't seem like a romantic partner but instead more like someone motivated by lust. In that situation I would expect the love of my life to understand my apprehension, the fact that I am not ready to leap into bed with her after 2 years, and that an explanation should be forthcoming. Instead she acts like all she is willing to do is fuck James/MC and if she doesn't get her way she throws a shoe at him. Then you contrast that with the letter writing scene and it is confusing. Did she think she was in love and then realized that she wasn't? Perhaps that she wanted to, via sex, try to rekindle the love she thought she held for the MC?
I don't like girls who hold big secrets like that, especially if they think they can walk back into someones life after causing that much heartbreak so it would take a LOT of good backstory for me to even be remotely interested in her route.
I have no issues with Linda being involved with other people since we parted (and would be surprised if she had not), but any sort of involvement with Matt could turn me off her character because of the type of person he is. (I guess all the love interests are going to have some sort of character flaw or secret that may affect our relationship)
I don't like anyone who keeps big secrets like that, especially for such flimsy reasons.
It could be that the MC and Linda broke up before it happened. And yes, I think all of the characters are going to be messed up in some manner which is why I am waiting for the other shoe to drop with Lexi and Chris. Lexi, I don't believe that her baggage will only be that she's a celebrity (if that is it then sign me up!) and Chris I don't want him to be ignored and constantly in the MC's shadow (nor do I want a Liam like secret though).
I think that MC finding the note actually makes things worse, and is only a plot device to keep her in the game instead of just letting you move on. (how convenient is it that he just happens to find the note now).
Yeah! I need Chris to have some kind of life besides being the MC's loyal friend. I know Chris isn't the smoothest guy in the world but there's someone for everyone. As I've said before I don't want to suddenly discover that Chris has been hiding the fact that he has cancer (ala Liam) but I can't believe that he doesn't have some secret (after all it looks like everyone else has a secret). I hope that we see some development of him as a character.
