Well based upon both Chris and Linda's remarks she should be as likable or more as any of the other girls, just she has not been presented in any such way to us as players yet. It may be in Mc's memory, but not in ours and even her two scenes in chapter 3, the flashbacks can be seen as not utterly great for her if look at them through the negative impression we have from chapter 1 and knowing she married someone else quite soon after leaving MC..
Well based on Mc's remark after he looked her into the eyes, she changed quite a bit in that 2 years, i think he said something like no emotions & empathie and that she is nothing like the great women he once knew...
and he is the one who's followed her like a love struck puppy to her house...

Also u know how it is if u go in retrospect, u remember mostly only the good things and not thinking about bad character streaks or problems...

Yeah and one of the remarks that you can make to Chris is that you feel pity for her when Chris asks you how you feel about Steph now. One answer I did not fully understood yet based on their interactions in game yet. Anger, regret, love gone? Ok, but pity? I do not think he has the info to feel that way yet about her besides your remark.

I guess we will have to wait for next updates before some things will make sense to us as players, we just miss too much information at the moment or just look at her and her character in the wrong way. But yeah Steph may well not be the Steph you once knew due to her choices and what they did to her. Which could be a reason why she did not want to see MC anymore. Possibly regaining that Steph again by showing her who she was, will be one of the themes on her path. Just pure speculation though.

Wow Swole being Matt would likely not help in the Steph popularity polls, her being friends and working together with the bully that likely hurt Linda in past and was a pest for MC as well. :p
In the first place, what could be the work a douchebag like Matt and Steph doing together ? And Swole sounded really respectfull and like a caring colleague in his nüke post....so like the complete opposite of Matt...

True. Well we will see if it is true and if so why. Also it would not really make sense Matt saying so long after working together if she just moved back to that city, unless she was there all along and was planning to move away. I guess we will just have to wait and see what is going on with Steph.

True thats a possible reason which could explain her not wanting Mc back.

Eh yeah....honestly i don't want to :p

If we speak about a ''friendship'' path where Steph can watch how Mc fools around with all other girls in front of her...i would be inclined to try that thought.

For a normal frienship, i agree with u, it is the worst possible point for that, seeing that Mc just begins to move on, for literally only a few days...

Honestly i don't think there's anything he could do to make her likable, he just made her that bad of a character. It could of been tolerable if we didn't meet her yet but her whole character was ruined for me by that club scene.
There are two reasons I don't like Steph and they are from Chapter 1: The MC saying that her eyes had changed and they lacked emotion & 2) Chris's reaction to the MC leaving with Steph and then how Chris talked to the MC later. It doesn't feel like Chris wants the MC to be with Steph.

I think all the girls have issues / secrets and it is about how the MC reacts and deals with things. I guess at some stage he will have to take a LEAP OF FAITH and make a decision. Being with any of the girls will involve an element of risk.
If there is one flaw in the way this game is written (sorry Drifty, I love the game!!!) it's that all of the potential LI seem to have heavy and deep secrets. Not one of the women we've met is without baggage.

Oh, this i'm also expecting. Cece is the one i think will have the darker issues, probably she being everyone's favorite girl makes it interesting to see how her fanbase reacts. With Linda, honestly? Who cares if she banged Matt? It seems she and the MC were at most friends with benefits.
Lexi... So... I'm thinking she is friends with Steph. Notice how every girl has a pair? Kira + Robin, Linda + Cece, probably Lexi's pair will be with Steph.
We all knew that Cece had serious issues. You don't meet a girl at a bus stop after midnight and then save her from committing suicide without knowing that she's going to be a (potentially) heartbreaking love story. Those of us who love her character know that it's going to be an emotional ride and we've strapped in.

Lexi and Steph being friends would explain how and why Steph was at the concert/sneak peak opening so soon after arriving in town. If the tickets are so hard to come by then Lexi giving Steph a ticket would make sense. it would also be a perfect twist and add heavy baggage to any relationship between MC and Lexi.

That would be interesting if it's true since drifty mentioned that if you don't like Steph you will be able to leave her out of the game completely if you want.
This is going to come as a bit of a surprise for some but, as Official Leader of the "Break Steph's Heart Into Itty Bits" Club, I don't want Steph to be completely gone from the game. I like the idea of her being a constant reminder of the past, the "what if", the wound that never heals. She hurt the MC terribly but I don't think the story would make sense if he could just shrug, say he's over her, and quickly move onto someone else.

There's a bit of 'historic' information about Chapter 1 and Steph, for you that's not been here since the start. :)

- There was supposed to be a scene between you seeing her at Metro and her home, where you two walk through the city streets at night. I had to leave it out because at that time I could not afford the scene model. Her "My place, now" was added to smoothen the (lack of) transition from Metro to her home. It was originally "Come, walk with me." There's a very high chance I will add that scene for the final release.
I think my dislike of Steph may have been more tempered if we'd had the walk and an inner monologue about "a dream come true that she'd finally come back" and maybe that he'd waited so long to see her again, etc. I am interested in seeing the reaction of first time players when this game is finally completed.

- v0.1.1 did not have the option to refuse Steph at her home in Ch1. It was in the script, but I thought as this is an AVN, I should at least have 1 lewd scene in there that you 'had' to do. Very much a rookie mistake for my first VN.
- v0.1.5 was released a week later with the option to refuse Steph included due to the massive request for it (and it being in the original script as well).
Yeah, fairly sure I really intensely disliked the fact that we couldn't skip the sex. She didn't deserve the magical dick at that point. It made me super happy that you changed the game.

I needed the shoe for story purposes, and that's why she's throwing it. It's a moment of frustration for her of course, though I can relate to many feeling that if you throw a shoe at someone, they are pretty much bat crazy by default.

So, many things may work differently in the final version, and that's why I've decided to move forward with the original script (and not change it due to the ongoing discussion). And you have the option to choose as you want going forward - after hearing her explanation. And after all that talk about saving you, maybe she even gets a chance to do so later on.

Cheers
Hmmm, I always argue that a developer/writer/artist should write what they want to write. Tell the story they want to tell. However, we are your beta testers so don't dismiss us completely. There may be moments that would be better served by tweaking your script/idea.

Weird reading through the posts that Steph gets so much hatred. I personally like her character and place in the story adds tension and drama.
I like her purpose in the story, how she creates conflict in a story that would otherwise be a fairly typical fuck game (beyond the baggage each person carries), however I don't like how she treated the MC within the story. She didn't communicate for two years and then shows up and acts like someone at a high school reunion who finally gets to fuck the varsity quarterback (a quick no talking fuck until her husband comes home).

LoF has a lot of promise, a lot of story that I want to see develop and explore, however it is too early to tell if this will be an epic legend of a porn game or if it will end up like a drunken game of jenga.

At the part where the game asks you to close your eyes with Lexi, She say's shame when the stop doing what they were doing, but did she mean shame as in they were interrupted or shame as in you picked the wrong choices and missed a scene? Thanks.

Shame you have to stop. There's no scene there to miss, at least not at this point.

It's written this way exactly to make you feel this way about her like the MC would, hurt, angry, and maybe confused or feel appalled by her petty behavior which makes the scene more memorable and gives her some depth even if it's negative. At least that's how I see it can't say for sure if that was the dev's intention.

This hatred towards a character reminds me of Jeoffrey from the game of thrones show. Everybody hated his guts but I loved the character exactly because of how much I hated the spoiled little shit. Of course in this situation, it's very obvious Steph had a reason for this behavior especially after the letter in the 3rd chapter except trying to jump MC's bones without explanation and expect a warm welcome but it's part of presenting her in the light that the dev wants to.

A big part of a movie or a game is for the makers of it to manipulate viewers or player's emotions in the wanted direction. I know I enjoyed the scene with the shoe, it was gratifying seeing the MC overcoming his obsession with her and moving on while she lost her cool, and maybe in the feature people who hated her might feel sorry for her and slightly embarrassed for their own hatred towards her. Or maybe I'm giving too much credit to this game, but so far it hasn't disappointed me.

Also keep in mind, in the final release, if you don't like Steph, you probably won't fuck her on your first playthrough, and an hour or two later you will know the outcome. The only thing you have to go by is 1. She left you without a word, and was gone for 2 years, 2. She offers no immediate explanation (wanting to get down and dirty first) and seems to have changed quite a bit, and 3. Throwing shoes now, really? No player playing the final game will have the option to discuss her behaviour for months, or maybe even know what happens if you do (ofc many will go for the scene anyway, but if we're going to go by the numbers, you shouldn't know everything if you don't fuck her). :)

So, many things may work differently in the final version, and that's why I've decided to move forward with the original script (and not change it due to the ongoing discussion). When you wrote Stephs story did you expect her to get this much hate or was that a big blindside for you? and do you expect the hate to mellow out when we find out her reasoning for it or are we at the point to were you see people hating on her regardless of the outcome now.

I hope you don't try too hard to "make" people like steph. Like making her a literal saint or something just to balance players intense deslike of her. It will just destroy the immersion and suspension of disbelief. No crazy heroics of her literally jumping to catch a bullet in the chest instead of us or such.

I get the impression that Matt is only a douche-bag with guys (or maybe just Chris and MC), but tries to be charming with girls.
If Matt was Swole, maybe Linda asking MC if he has been in contact with Matt has nothing to do with something between Matt and Linda, but because Matt and Linda are in contact with Steph.

I absolutely love this game.

Stephanie's story revelation has really turned my opinion around from how I felt at the end of Ch2 and I cannot wait to hear what she has to say now.

The whole time I played through Ch3 I had a massive grin plastered over my face. The music, the animations, the renders, are all fantastic IMO. But what has really grabbed me is how Drifty's writing has hit me in the feels. Not too many AVN's have made me feel this much about the characters in the game: Luna in the Deluca Family; and Megan in AL spring to mind. But now I have Cece, Lexi, and Stephanie all doing a number on me in just one game. I adore how each character in the game has depth and 'baggage' to work through. And the humor is fantastic also. Chris started out as a bit of a weird one, but like Liam in AL, he's growing on me rapidly.

I try not to rate incomplete games but so far, for me, this is a 5 star masterpiece of a game in the making.

So I've just discovered this game a few days ago, played it, and skimmed through the forum. I have 4 things to say.

1) I'm blanking out and don't recall the pinky finger scene at all. When did it happen?

2a) There's a "Hollywood" commenting on both of Steph's Nüke pictures.
2b) In Lexi's bonus scene, her friend on the phone is called Holly.
2c) The whole cast flew to L.A.
Coincidence?

3) Steph's Nüke account seems to add much credence to her being some sort of CIA spy...
  • Account name is StephPriv, which seems to imply this is her private account that is separate from another work account.
  • Pointing to the "Pentagon" book in her first picture, which many here have caught.
  • In her newest picture, she's saying "Moving on. New life, new possibilities." Does that mean she has just finished her last mission and she's quitting? If that's the case, it would help explain why she now seems to be trying to reconnect with the MC.
  • Assuming Swole = "Melvin the husband", he commented that "For what it's worth, you have my eternal respect. It was nice working with you. Good luck." Does that mean "Melvin" is Setph's "pretend husband" CIA partner? And that during the mission, Steph had to do some rather morally ambiguous things to get the job done?
4) Steph's last picture shows her at the bus stop. She's going somewhere. Hollywood says "Call me when you get here sweetie." Is she heading to L.A. as well?

Well according to the tasks listing you have to hear her out before the end of the next day, so unless that is by phone or just the contact to propose a date to talk that last seems quite possible.

I wonder if there is more of a connection between Lexi and Steph. Sure it could be coincidence that they met at the bar like that or maybe steph is her friend and she asked her to spy on the MC.

She calls Melvin honey, hun and baby and is about to have sex with him as MC is leaving out a 2nd floor window - doesn't sound very pretend to me.
