After finally catching up with the releases and not yet catching up with the thread, I've missed you guys, I kinda stumbled upon an interesting thought. Every chapter can be summarized with an emotion which culminates at the end of it.

For me it was like this:

It's rather the sort of story where you'll rewatch the layered dialogue for the 3rd time either trying to decipher things you couldn't before, or to notice the cruel irony that was hidden in the background.
on that topic, I'd be interested in hearing some of the events you guys have re-read and got a different perspective on and/or conclusion on since I'm currently replaying everything from the start

for me: a lot of the early Tsuneyo events had hints and info for Wires that I somehow just forgot about or my brain just didn't pick up on the first time, probably thinking HOPE was the only god?

If that's your perspective then it makes even less sense for you to play a game that's barely at its midway point. You can't know if it will be worth your time because it isn't finished, nor can you properly evaluate its worth (if you're interested in the story) if you keep skipping the story.

You said you skipped dialogue for characters that hadn't sexual scenes accounted for in the menu (from what I understood), because these questlines wouldn't net you any "reward worth your time". But the game isn't finished, nor is every sexual interaction dependent on lust points or shows up as a lust scene.

Furthermore, characters that don't have lust scenes now will have them in the future, will you then replay everything because then the character will be worth your time? lol or worse, upon skipping through sexual encounters with characters that weren't flagged as lust scenes will you replay it inside the current build?

Lastly, if you are interested in say, Ayane's story (that has loads of lust scenes), but then just skip through all of Sana's dialogue because she has none or close to none, Ayane's story will make less sense cause, well, all of these stories are interwoven. Especially in main events, but honestly through all events.

Skipping everything cause one just wants to see porn is something I can definitely understand. Not the game for it, but I understand. What you just described doesn't make much sense to me, but it's not like you have to justify yourself either, I'm just responding since you went to the trouble of explaining.
Ah maybe ive misframed how I treat it.
I find things "Worth the reward" to be lots of things other than sex. Comedy being one of them.
However. For girls that i have simply no interest in to begin with. Or that seem to just be Saying things that go nowhere and dont entertain me.
Yeah no reward means ill either skip OR skim.
Sana is a good case. I like her character so im willing to go through it for the little scenes i DO enjoy to feel more meaningful.

spending time with a character you like already is a reward in itself.

However. If you are asking me how much i care about spending time with otoha? A girl i have zero intrest in and frankly find boring and is currently just a foil for rin? Yeah pass. I skipped almost everything or skimmed it and i feel zero loss.

If anything I feel better about being as detached as sensei is in my game currently about it.

Im also a little offended at being represented as if im just skipping through for he porn. I would just watch porn then.

I skip through characters I dont like when i think they have nothing interesting to me to say when they have no rewards.

Osako is another example. I find her ok. But I might see sesbian lex so i always at minimum am a little interested in her development. Even if its for base reasons. Its enough for me to keep reading.

I try to only skim for events though when I come across a character like that.

Summary:porn isnt the only reward. Spending time with a character you like can be as well. I always read enough to understand the story. Just maybe not with as much care or emotional impact to anyone i dont like. Porn helps though.

Edit: I find it hard to fathom a list where Ayane is best girl even if it was manipulated by Himawari.
I agree she isn't #1 but she's still great and is #3 for me after Niki/Maya Prime. I still can't decide who is #1 between those two. Lately I'm not even sure if its Wakana, Sara, or Makoto after that. But we all got our favs. :)

Personally, I really did like Prime Maya, at least once you started to understand her.
While I think Akira's hatred, and almost fear, of new Maya might be a bit exaggerated, I also feel like she has become a little empty and it bugs me that she seems so blissfully unaware of everything, compared to the others.
New Maya is frustrating.

Made me do a double take recently, and the idea that Yasu was actually that Shotacon the Plants mentioned, crossed my mind. Unless she was referring to the name "Knife Boy"?

Basically all of Yasu's appearances and Events feel more "understandable", though. Same with Ami, Kaori, Nodoka, and Tsuneyo. Those 5 in particular being more entertaining and interesting the more we learn, and I'd recommend paying more attention to how they word things, and the consistent things that occur around them (like Kaori chasing the Cat over and over), for those planning on replaying.

I'd also think Io's Events have become more "understandable" now that we know her past.

There's also Yumi's appearances and Events, but they haven't quite became more understandable or worth it, just yet. Still, her mentioning it's like the City itself forces Sensei and her together:

With stuff like how it suddenly rains just long enough for Chika to catch them 2 updates ago, seems suspicious. Well, this is how Yumi would eloquently put it:

There are dozens upon dozens of things that might mean more than one would think at first. The lights, the key phrases, the timing, the motivation behind things, etc.

Once I forget a lot more things, I definitely plan on replaying. This is the kind of game where replaying is part of the fun.

completely off-topic, but just one thing that must be said: I don't think we've talked since I became active, but I remember reading many of your posts in-between my first playthrough and being active. Glad to have the full deck of people I read around, just wanted to say hey.

Everything Maya. The affection she's hiding at every turn, the places she takes him to (their first meeting place by the coffee machine), her subtle tries at making him remember, the irony of the things he says to her - the list is massive. One example follows:
These are some random things Akira says to Uta, whilst on a date with Maya, that take an entire different meaning when you understand Maya's perspective THERE IS ONLY HURT HERE:
Someone give the poor girl a hug
But other than that, speaking in general terms, pretty much anything supernatural, the entirety of chapter 1 (there are so many foreshadowings it's insane, like the Molly being drunk at their first halloween, but there are constant minor ones), the ENTIRE Noriko introduction, the Ayane baby hints and Himawari's name arc, everything Yasu, a lot of Yumi in terms of what's between them in previous cycles resurfacing and taking over, being able to understand what Nodoka is doing (including probably getting her note to herself buried in the old school), piecing together when Ami becomes infected (?), EVERY narrator that isn't Akira and who they are, and who they serve, piecing together Kaori's infection, the Sakakibara family in general now that you understand what both are hiding, how Pareidolia/Himawari are manipulating events since at least the scarf incident, understanding when a slip or auto-pilot has happened, and applying the correct theory to each blackout in accordance.

I used to post screenshots of things I found, the post I tagged is one of them. Be sure to tell us about what you find too.

For another attic reference, in "Blood & Sunset" Sensei implies that he hid a journal of his old poems in the attic because they remind him of Sekai (assuming I'm interpreting this right). I don't think there's any indication that Ami found it, but it would be interesting if she did.
Following up on this, there actually might be a clue that Ami knows about the journal that Sensei hid. When Sensei is catatonic in "Not the Nightingale", she mentions the attic and Sensei's "secret hiding place".

This doesn't necessarily mean the hiding place is in the attic, but it's suggestive especially since I can't remember any reference to Sensei hiding anything else in the house (hit me with alternate theories, though).

This raises a couple of questions. The first is why this detail would be important, and in particular why Sel would have Ami only hint at it instead of revealing that she read Sensei's poems as well as Sekai's. Maybe Sensei hid stuff other than the journal in the same spot, like mementos from the accident. Or maybe there's incriminating information in the journal, either about Sekai being a monster or about Maya.

The second question is why would Ami bring up a secret compartment under a floorboard in the context of protecting the house from intruders. It doesn't make much sense, but I'm not sure why any sort of hiding place would be relevant.

doesn't he have a hiding place in his bedroom? or was that in his childhood bedroom? I vaguely recall that being one or the other. It was my understanding that the one that hid something in the attic, under the whatever board was Sekai. Or maybe the lavender hair girl at most (in a different attic). Seriously though, it'd be interesting if this was a reference to what Nodoka said about it being ridiculous that Yasu considers two universes when they're infinite.
Unless it was retconned, this actually seems to be something that Nodoka is wrong about. Yasu is aware of the existence of many other worlds/planes.

I don't remember a bedroom hiding place, but it could be something I forgot.

In regards to the the hidden journal, this is from "Blood & Sunset", the event where Sekai tries to get Akira to assault Tsukasa in the sakura tree room. It's definitely Sensei narrating at the beginning, and there's no apparent narrator switch before he mentions hiding the journal.

Sensei is the bird with the missing voice because he no longer writes. He's locked away his "songs and psalms", i.e. his poems, because he's no longer willing to share them with the world. Even pre-accident Sensei has always been bad at directly communicating his feelings and he used poems as a way of getting them out, so by getting rid of the poems he's trying to get rid of his feelings as well ("everything hurts so much").

Later in the event Sekai starts talking to Akira, as is made clear by the mention of a ghost and calling him Aki-kun. She also talks about the journal and seemingly connects it to Sensei's emotions.

This is a little harder for me to interpret, but I think by "cursed thoughts" she's talking about Sensei's moral hangups that prevent him from acting on his sexual urges regarding wizards - the things that make him terrified when presented with the prospect of plucking unripe fruit. She wants him to bury away these feelings, getting rid of them in the same way he got rid of the emotions he expressed in his poems.

As for why Sekai's perfume is involved with the journal, I'm guessing he wrapped it in eiderdown that smelled like her because he was trying to get rid of the poems/emotions that reminded him of her after the accident. So there's a chance this is the attic in his house in the old district, but I think it's just as likely that he brought the journal with him when he moved before "burying" it again.

Anyway, this is my interpretation, I could be misreading it.
