Theoretically, yes. However, my impression is that those places may have started out that way, but that there's now an unspoken "competition" to be as much of a condescending asshole as possible (or variations thereof), so I don't think people's behavior there reflect their true personalities in a lot of cases. I haven't felt like any of the chans have been honest for years.
With out going any deeper heres a few choice selections from 8chans htg board (their main porn game board)

But I'm not against anybody that goes there, it's just not for me. I much rather have a forum like this that has some moderation.

Actually people's behavior there reflect the true personalities(of most people) there have been many studies that show that most people only show their true selves when they are protected by anonymity.A person protected behind a mask is willing to do a lot of things he normally wouldn't do.And i did admit you need a good BS filter.

Likewise, people are strongly influenced by their environment and the people surrounding them, hence my post above. 4chan and 8chan don't exist in a timeless vacuum. They adapt and change, and the people there adapt and change with them, in both subtle and not so subtle ways. There is no more truth in people's behavior there than there is here. Anonymity is merely one of many, many factors contributing to the overall behavior patterns in those places.

You should be careful when simplifying social behavior. You can't just distill behavioral influence down to one factor. It is always more complicated than that.

Well, we have to talk about something while waiting for me to finish the next version of the game. ;)
Huh, yeah, but...you're hanging out here with the guys ! Just promise us it won't make us wait longer...you teasing pixie you ! But hey, if you want to do Social Media Zeitgeist, i'm game. Without giving too much away, for privacy reasons, not too long ago, i had to almost live online, as a political operative. ( very low level, nothing too interesting ). There's something about anonimity that just brings out the very worst in people, for they do not fear peer pressure. I go by the opposite rule, avoid posting anything you couldn't show your Mom. If you're on a forum of any kind, and feel you can't abide by this, maybe look for a better hangout.

Right now I'm actually killing time while waiting for yet another render to finish. That's the 67th render I've made for version 0.15, and I'm not done yet. These things slow down my computer so much that I can't even watch YouTube videos without them stuttering, and I find it hard to do any serious writing while focused on the renders. My posting here certainly isn't delaying the game, at least.

Wow, you've got your work cut out for you. Well , in that case, it's not really you teasing us, it's your computer teasing you. " 45% complete................46% complete........"

I'd argue the opposite, at least when it comes to some of the chans. There seems to be considerable peer pressure to out-douche one another.

That said, some of their sub-boards can produce both interesting discussions and new content, it's just that the signal to noise ratio is horrible.

Yeah I agree, in particular I find 4chans comics board pretty good for open discussion, it just theres a overall being a dick to each other for no reason to most of the boards.

I understand , but that wasn't the kind of peer pressure i was talking about. I mean your friends, neighbors, family, coworkers, not a random username. What you were describing is more like "Lord of the Flies", you do what you need to do, in order to survive in a hostile environment. Like in Prison, or High-School . But i concede your broader point, yes, there are interesting people, even in the 5th Circle of Hell. But it's just not worth it, because of the signal-to-noise ratio.

Heh, that's a nice way of putting it.

I usually don't partake in discussions there as my patience is limited when it comes to being offensive for the sake of being offensive.
On the other hand, I use places like hgg as a source for mods and cheats. You can also find a surprising amount of answers to any questions you might have, especially about adult games that aren't super popular, if you're willing to wade through the swampland of some of the threads.

Thats a good way to put it. I use 4/8chan to find new games/updates to post, whereas I come here to discuss or comment on said games.

Didn't know what to expect. Just decided to check and.... Laughs and fantasy - I'm feeling like Rincewind.
I like (good) reading and - yes, I'm weirdo - I like game with plot. "Long Live the Princess" is one such game - great stuff.
Didn't find bugs and crashes so that's also few points more.

Now... My problem. I'm searching for a spell to make Belle li'l bit bigger... Not you @Belle - other one, you know?
I just hope I'll find it in one of the next releases - Belle is really a girl (or a pixie) I like the most.

Well, there is some precedence for a spell like that, at least. After all, the Crone refers to a spell called Shrink when you first meet her. :)

Even the most subtle of comparisons to Terry Pratchett's writing is flattering as hell, so thanks! I suppose his writing is one of the inspirations for my somewhat whimsical writing style when writing humor.

. One has to wonder how many of those people even bother to visit the Patreon campaign if only to check that they've got the latest version.
I, for one, come here to see what is new. I admit I haven't even known about his place very long, but it snow a go to place. When I see something that looks interesting, I will download it, check it out, and if I like it or it looks promising, I go to the Patreon page to see if I can get an idea of how active the dev seems to be. If I don't like the game, for whatever reason, I delete it and go about my day.

I will admit that I have only visited you Patreon page a couple times, but you are so active here, I feel that I am not missing out. If I could become a patron, I would visit most every day.

All this to say that there are some of us here that will visit the Patreon page at least once.
