Hey Tawny, about the time and complexity of Koikatsu renders. Are the sex renders any easier, due to positions for them existing in Koikatsu already? Like is it possible to import a position/animation for sex from the game and use your custom characters in that if you wanted to be lazy?

I'm using the Koikatsu Screw This Noise 9.3 repack which is an older version. I tried downloading the newer RX7 repacks, but it was missing a lot of the custom content that I had with my older version so I didn't use it. I'm not technically savvy so I didn't want to mess with trying to incorporate the old repack with the newer one.

Bottom line, I'm not sure what kinds of custom poses are included with RX7 as I didn't look at it very closely when I saw how much was missing from it compared to 9.3.

Making animations from scratch is way over my head. It's hard enough to make the premade ones work right, so I'm afraid that the Koikatu CharaStudio will have a rather steep learning curve if you want to download it and give it a go. Totally worth it in my book, though. It's a lot of fun to make porn that is custom designed for your own enjoyment. For this I would recommend downloading Honey Select instead as you can make more realistic looking porn and I know that one has custom poses already included along with CharaStudio. The downside of HS is that the models tend to all look alike.

I meant existing poses, but filling them with your custom characters. Like say, game has Sexual Animation X already in it. I create custom characters called Slut and Dick. Is it more or less easy/straightforward to plug Slut and Dick into Sexual Animation X?

When I was referring to custom animations and poses, I was talking about ones that have already been made by Koitkatu and modders. When you highlight a character and click on an animation, then CharaStudio has the character act out the pose. They will perform it in a loop and then you can capture it with an app such as ShanaEncoder which puts it into a format that Ren'Py can play.

But if you just want to plug characters into a scene with premade poses and give them dialogue, you can do that too. I started out my VN creation hobby with Sims 2 by taking screenshots and then pasting them into a Word file to illustrate a story. Ren'Py is just a more sophisticated way of doing that.

Nope, no time travel required any more. The family is diving into their polyamory experiment headlong without any regard for practicing safe sex and this will have consequences!

The rest of the VN will take place in the present timeline, though I do plan to revisit the Delta timeline with young pregnant April and young Kataryna one last time. Gotta see how that timeline turns out.

There will be time travel of a sort as the different endings play out toward the end of the VN, similar to the way the Kumiko timelines played out.

Actually doing the renders in Koikatu is a breeze compared to far more sophisticated programs such as Daz 3d. I'm planning on using that software for my next project and it's rather daunting. With that program there will be additional complications involving lighting and image clarity that appear to have a sharp learning curve. In addition to that, while each render in Koikatu is generated instantly, my first simple Daz 3d render experiments are taking my PC around 25 minutes each to generate. That's why you don't see a lot of different poses in the Daz 3d games here on this site. I'll likely need to upgrade my graphics card to make any real headway.

May I introduce the idea of sprites into your next game I doubt that would help in this situation but it would dramatically speed up your work with Daz. If you create the sprites for all of the characters prior to your first release it truly would help with overall production. And you know as well as I, you gotta feed the trolls.

You use the tools you have for the job, and I actually prefer Koikatsu to the nice but sterile looks of H-Select, the simplified and cartoony characters, as well as the garish colours work for me somehow. But a Tawny game in Daz ... that would be something to dream about. Oh man.
