Oh shit. I feel you, dude. Even though I can't support you financially, I would be glad to and will try to get over with this at least here if I can. Just take your time and try to relax and recover. Mental issues are hard to deal with, and I hope you'll manage to soon.Breaking the silence with bad news
Oh god yes. I have started checking windows update before I go to bed now to make sure there is no update or tell it to delay the restart for a time.Don't forget about Windows automatic updates...the bane of all overnight work...
His first responsibility is to his own well-being, look at the state of the world we live in where people who are going through a ton of stuff are working themselves deeper into depression and suicide instead of doing what veq did. He saw the problem, he is taking time off to deal with his life, to deal with everything else outside of the game. I'm sure most people would rather have Veq alive than being another statistic. Show some humanity, the guy is having a hard time, he doesn't need you to kick him while he''s down with accusations.Even if something happened, this is no excuse. There are such words as "responsibility" and "professionalism". People gave good money for its development. And got a spit in the face. That you didn’t come across anything in real life if you don’t understand that any excuses in this situation are not excuses. People like you and stimulate such behavior of spoiled people who take money and say "sorry, but I have real life here." I despise.
Yes, while continuing to take money for nothing, he does not forget. You guys are so naive. I really do not like this trend, shameful for the whole industry. Some developers abandon their game barely starting, but but don't talk about it, keep silent and continue to take money. His first responsibility is to his own well-being, look at the state of the world we live in where people who are going through a ton of stuff are working themselves deeper into depression and suicide instead of doing what veq did. Hi, I appreciate your concern for those of us who are "too trusting". I understand there have been some developers who have acted in a shady manner before on this site, but I don't believe you're right in this case.Yes, while continuing to take money for nothing, he does not forget. Well, I finished the discussion, sorry if my words insulted someone, but I am sure of one thing: I am telling the truth. Unpleasant, but true. You are too trusting.
As true as this is, you're also assuming that everyone can self-rationalize and empathize and actually care about both. As you can see above there's such a glittering examples of this...Hi, I appreciate your concern for those of us who are "too trusting". Making VNs as an indie creator is not really a job. It is a time-sink, and money-sink. The creators here are sustained mostly by their passion.
In this case, the creator didn't keep silent. They made a post to alert to all patrons that LaS is going on hold for the time being. We all are within our rights to withdraw our monthly donations, or to continue them for our own private reasons.
Lastly, if you actually want to apologize, please don't frame it in the manner of "I'm sorry that my words insulted/offended you, I'm just telling the truth". If you want to be sincere, just tell us your concerns and experiences with dishonest devs, and I'm sure we can make up our own minds.
That may be true, but what you never mentioned is that people paid money for 3 months and were told that the game was in 'testing' phase, which undoubtedly got them excited. Then, a month and a half later (which brings the total to 5 months without an update) he turns around and says the game is on hold. It's all good saying 'withdraw your donation', but people spent their hard earned money and got nothing out of it.We all are within our rights to withdraw our monthly donations
He might not have kept completely silent but he never gave as many updates as someone making that amount of money should. It was clear months ago that he had stopped working on the game. I'm not trying to attack Veq in any way. I've been here since the start of the game and wish him all the best with his personal life, just saying he handled it pretty poorly. In this case, the creator didn't keep silent.
