Starting in about 30 minutes (am BST, 7pm CDT) I'll be streaming ACT IV of Love of Magic!
Got a little head start on the public launch I think ;)

I've been longing for this and so excited to finally play it (feels like I've been avoiding spoilers on the Discord for so long...) and bring it to any of you who want to watch!

Come check it out at
Hope to see lots of you there!
Your impression of Molly cracked me up :)

Hello, I just wanted to point out 2 things Droid Productions
1-When taking a break in Elsewhere with Molly, there is this dialogue exchange where, I think, MC grabbed her ass or something. I think.
The thing is, at the end he says "Thank you <MOLLY" or something of the sorts. Probably a little error when coding her<NAME>

2-When performing an attack in combat, the text in the middle announcing the attack+gem done doesn't disappear.
Its still playable, but when I got Bella's explanation about passive skills, that one also wouldn't leave, leaving me with 2 black screens, completely blocking my view from whatever card was in the middle.

Nice scene with Chloe's cat costume btw.

Fixed in 0.4.5b (uploading now, it's taking a while as it's 4 mirrors x 7GB (2GB each for PC, OSX and Linux, 1GB for android).

It's fixed; though the underlying reason was me adding a 'slow text' option (in the settings), which defaulted to 0% for some people. You can change it in the settings.

Okay; build has been updated. We are *live* with Act IV.

Act IV was a pretty big undertaking for me, and it's been a really busy month pushing it forward. A huge thanks to the beta testers, spell-checkers and all around awesome people on the discord who kept me sane, kept me company and kept finding typos in my text.

The big thing you'll likely notice (whether you start from the beginning of the game, or from Act III's ending) is the integration of videos. I've spent the last 6 months banging away at AfterEffects, and finally feel I'm starting to get somewhere, though I'm still a newb at it. Mostly that was because I had dreams for a specific scene in Act IV, so you guys let me know if it works for you.

I feel like I just pulled a Rip Van Winkle. The last update I saw for this thread was 3.24b see an update and it is a whole version number ahead. How long was I gone for? Thor better not have touched any of my stuff while I was away.

Is this sandboxy or just a visual novel like progression?

Both, the main storyline is pretty much linear, but how you build your character's attribute stats is up to you. You'll get some points from the required events, but the vast majority you'll have to decide how to achieve--or whether to bother with much at all if it doesn't appeal to you.

Most of the dialogue/action options in the main storyline are just there for roleplaying flavor, but a few do lead to different scenes/outcomes.

One of the things I did was go back to the first day of the game. It's got two pivotal scenes that I never really felt I represented properly; Emily's arrival and Chloe's transformation.

I don't know if it's of any interest for anyone; I did a little 'making of' for my patreons, figured I might see if anyone here are interested in that kind of thing.

The characters are DAZ -> Spine (yes, even the silly little cat). I tried to experiment with camera movement to make the scene feel more alive; I'm not 100% happy with how it turned out (it could have done with being faster, the motions a little smoother), but like always it's a learning experience. Finally the actual transition between the two used a cross-blend, a turbulent displace that animates over time to get the distortion, a outline (curtesy of Saber) and finally (when all else failed) a sprinkling of particles on top to hide discontinuities.

Finally, you get the whole thing put together; the planes are all 3D, so the camera pan can be used for zoom and parallax.

I was tinkering with Act IV for a while, mainly setting up the new animations and tech for that (the first showcase of the new video tech goes back to the Game of Friends game from Rec, Bad Memories).

Act IV starts from the end of Act III (day 54), and plays out over 3 1/2 weeks (to day 76). It's got something like 15 discreet date-line events, new enemies for elsewhere, new books to read, new side-events and a new repeatable stat action.

I want these big central arcs to tell a coherent story, each one ending in a proper ending. Because I also want them to be a sizeable increase to the world, something that's worth sitting down and playing if you've already played the game to completion at the last release, they become a lot like real work. In terms of just the story-content, you're looking at something like 2 hours additional gameplay, ignoring stuff like Elsewhere. Between , and Love of Magic, I've more or less lived at the keyboard for the last 5 weeks :D

Thanks for that, for me that's pretty interesting considering adding a handrawn arrow to a pic with paint is the best I can do. ;)

I personally think it looks good. You know your story doesn't need special effects to cover for a weak story.
(You hear me Michael Bay?) :ROFLMAO:

But then again I'm from a time when special effects where hand made. Exploding wodden miniature models, blood packs
and movies where shot outside on real locations and not infront of green wall...

That you are not satisfied is a good thing. Means you want to learn, improve and evolve.
As opposed to folks thinking they are the lick and aren't capable of self-reflection.
They won't improve as humans nor as specialists. (Hope it's the proper wording in english.)

Anyone know how to grab, store, or use the black rose sitting on our desk in our room.
I know what it is used FOR but I cannot seem to activate it.

Alright to answer my own question: go to the coffee shop, and stay till after hours, then give Jenny the rose.

That sounds like a terrible bug; where did you encounter it?
I encountered it after being paired up with Emily for the Ceremonial Magic project where you have to strip down and tell an intimate secret. I was undressed and she was half undressed. Went to click the next choice in dialogue and clicked that button by accident and it placed my character behind hers with no other on screen clickables. Even the auto-save wouldn't help as it just placed me right back in the same predicament.

Okay, thanks for the repro step. In general, the rewind button should just send you back to a savegame just before the conversation started, so it sounds like you may have found a bug in it. I'll have a look for it.
