Yeah also seconding the request for info on how to get save files working that aren't your own.
Edit: Solved it with some 80s gibson level hacking skills. Other file than your saves in the saves folder is one called globalsaves or something like that which I figured must be registry of what save files there are. So the problem with adding save files into the game is that unless you've already created a save file in that particular save slot the game isn't going to read that save as anything. So you've got to start a new game or load a previous save then save a game in the slot you're trying to import the save for. Then once you've done that you can transfer the save file in that you want to use, overwrite the existing one you just made and it will be read by the game.
