I respectfully disagree with you, the story is linear enough even in hard mode to not lose anything, of course if you follow the dialogues and play it correctly, and with the correct amount of attention and the save slots helps a lot too if you are in a maze.
I was able to do almost everything in my first attempt even without the wt, and the hearts especially weren't the part that gave me issues to be honest, I've had more problems in finishing the task for the secret chambers than that.
Anyway this discussion went way over the necessary imho, so I consider it closed, I don't think I will be able to give anything more productive or helpful in continuing it so for me it's closed.

Were you play it on easy or hard mode?

I played both modes as well, in the easy mode apart some minor difficulties, like the the hidden labyrinth to get to the radiator or some issues in the forest and the maze I did it in a single playthrough, and relatively easy and quick.
In hard mode I've had your exact problem, and I agree it was very hard to find it, but I just persevered and surely I was lucky probably, I'm not at all a champ in these games.

I'm in the part where the hint says something about the piece of paper i picked up in the cemetery and access the computer but I can't access the computer. I've talked to everyone, it's evening and I also can't sleep. I'm at 57% progress. If anyone has the freetime to help me out here's the save file i'm currently at

To access the security room you need to talk to Buddy after he leave Mendel then follow him there.

I already finished with that part. I'm at the point where the pe teacher would go back to the other bridge with buddy. I also unlocked violet and scene 1 already

But that happens far in the game, if you have the note (that is the bypass code for the computer) you should be able to enter the security room, since the door is still open at that point of the game.

Dang! And I erased all my save files and can't help you.... Since I needed space in my HD
Unless you can wait and I will go to that point and give you a save to bypass that point.

u mean Andy's quest about pic?? if so go to Valeri's room talk with her, next go to bathroom. Valerie will show up as u leave bathroom after dialogue just go to kitchen and u will do pic. of Val.
