The grind has been cut dramatically since the revamp in 0.83 if you where describing 0.82 I would have agreed with you as Claires path was heavily based on grinding along with most of the characters
Isnt there some kind of grinding element in most games even big budget ones The FF games you had to grind to gain experience so you didnt get your arse handed to you by a boss, Assassin Creed side quests again to gain experience and Star wars Battlefront the more you played the higher your level to name but a few.
Why should a porn game be any different

I hated anything to do with the Chocobos I was actually hoping they became like the Dodo extinct but no they where still there in FFXV
Unless the game is set up like Big Brother, where the images were in another folder to be accessed by both the player and the game, unity automatically compresses the images, making the compressed version, the only version.
I remember when I first tried to export a game from Unity, and I had used tiffs, not really caring about size for my testing, and I found that once I exported it, the entire "game" (and I use the term loosely) was smaller than one of the images I had used for the menus.

I'm talking about 0.88, which was the last iteration of the game I played. (I'm waiting for 0.92 before playing again. I like to wait for three or four updates before playing again, to allow longer sessions.) In 0.88 there is a significant amount of grinding for both Emma and Sophia.
I didn't say that a porn game has to be different. People complain about grinding in non-porn games, too, so I don't see why anyone should be surprised when they complain about grinding in porn games. That may be why many of those games (perhaps most) make the grinding optional. I know some gamers in my circle who won't play games in which extensive grinding is unavoidable.
Myself, I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I'm a grinder by nature. I always try to max MC stats and relationship scores, etc. In the cases of Emma and Sophia in particular, though, I have to admit that it did seem to drag on more than it should. When you have to repeat the same scene a dozen times, you begin to just click through it as quickly as you can while wishing that there was a quicker way.

I am the same as you as you I dont mind grinding although in some games it can be a pain in the arse as it is over extensive, the problem here I think is that the game is played update by update I understand that you havent played since 0.88 so you have two months of content to go through but each update will still only concentrate on one character so it can seem grindy, if played from the beginning again the girls that seem grindy can be interlaced with progressing other characters and it wont seem as grindy in fact it will probably feel like a different game.
I will still go back to my initial point though there has to be some element of grind in the game as it is a game and not a Visual novel, and I am sorry if I misunderstood your original comment but far too many people come here and moan its too grindy when all they want to do is click away and do nothing just so can reach the good content just like a VN
To me, the best way to go is to not only make it optional, but give some bit of variety to them, change the dialogue, or something, to make it feel less ...boring for lack of a better word. It's why I quit playing most mmos, when it gets to feel like playing a game is a job (unpaid), it loses a lot of the 'fun' element.

I'm not so much into RPG, but more of an adventure player. Rather then grinding stats I like to find out what to do next.
I really don't see the point in doing the same things over and over again.
A few updates ago (maybe it WAS .88, since there is some complaint about it) there WAS more grind than usual and yes, it had something to do with Emma.
Other than that I think the game lost some of it's gind factor, since for important scenes you sometimes get way over 5 points.

For me, the most noticeable one right now is Sophie, all of the steam room visits.

Repeat the same scene a dozen times? 2 scenes, 5 times each, to go up 10 in 2 different points.

Emma's grind I found normal like the others. The thing that might be giving the idea of an unnecessary grind is the fact that you might have already completed the other girls so she the only one you're grinding at this point.
The one that has the worst grind is Sophie since just for the sauna you need to visit it 15 times without any alternative to boost her stat. Although I can understand that the huge grind might come from the fact that Sophie is a shy girl and needs time to get used to the MC's presence.

seeing the development of the game lately i'm pretty sure the grind will vanish once the ongoing story arc of the girls is finished. same happened with the maincast so i assume faerin to change that grind in a future update in the same way where you finish a event and get those 10 points in one go
