Absolutely blown away with your game and glad to see you have raised a good amount of funds to ensure future development for it. Keep it up pal!

This looks like it has a lot of promise. I'll look forward to more content and especially the ability to play as a female char(or better yet a trans woman? The question of Penis or Vagina makes me think that sprite might not be tied to genitals??? I hope that's an option, have a penis but be a woman otherwise and treated like one in text!)
Just want to say that this option (or options, we should not leave trans men out of this, after all) would be SO. COOL. I don't think it'd take that much effort either, being a matter of switches and all. Especially since the game seems to stilk be in (somewhat) early days.
I can probably confirm that you will be able to choose your character appearance independently of anatomy in the next public/patron update, and that you will be able to change your anatomy later on in the game (a la magic). The next update is also when the female anatomy protagonist option is available.

The game did crash for me in the first fight, in the Blood Pit during the big meeting sequence, so i didn't play past that yet. I saw enough to know I'd like to play more but also to wait until there's enough content for me to really sink my teeth in.
Hmmm, let me know if you get that crash again and what the error message is.

Guys, there's no sex scenes in the game, it's just animated pixels. Basically the pixel character you see walking around, that's the sex scene. I know some people like that, but had I known that, it would've saved me from playing the game.

I'm kinda curious what the guild's policy on that is. If you're female with a male body... can you be a courtesan? What if you are male with a female body? A more progressive society would obviously allow the former and not the latter. But given the apparent institutionalized sexism against men in this world (in the guild at least)... I wouldn't be surprised if it was the latter and not the former. Or even neither.

Either way, really happy to hear the option to play a female character is going to be available soon.

I'll also second that it's a bit of a shame that you went with pixel art for the sex scenes despite having good character art. I'm assuming that was a choice between having animations for the different options in each scene and having static sex scenes with only one or two images and fewer options. Given that you also appear to be using custom RMMV sprites and assets, I'm assuming your art budget is pretty well filled. So I can understand the need to prioritize. It's still plenty sexy enough for me.

You will definitely run into some of this angst in the story later on.

It will probably make people happy that I am starting to add animated and non-animated 2D CGs into the game. I'm not entirely sure how it will work at this point, but the end result will be a combination of both 2D and pixel. It is absolutely a budget issue, as the sheer amount of sex scenes in the game, across 9 companions and a number of drawn NPCs, make it really difficult and expensive to animate traditionally.

After all, The Last Sovereign, a great inspiration for this game, has very little animation IIRC and is still very popular. The design philosophy in Memoirs is about choice and RPG expansiveness.

Everything about the game is off. With the visual presentation you have pixel sprites, a portrait and an anime version of the people which all clash. The character designs are random unrealistic impractical clothes inspired by overwatch. The sprite sex scenes happen in an eternal black void. The menu is impractical. The camera options are pointless and their controls overlap with other functions buttons.
Combat has no fun factor and is a pain. World design is bad, everywhere theres the same drugs bad posters like in high school, click a movie poster the dialogue box says "movie poster" to really immerse you and npcs that are irrelevant look same as quest npcs.
Theres factions called "traditionalists" and "progressives" because what else would you call them.

I'll keep an eye out for it. :)

Also a huge fan of TLS. So that's definitely a plus for me to know at least some of what you are doing draws on that. It doesn't hurt that I'm a huge fan of tactical RPGs as well. :p I've been wanting to make my own TRGP for a while and seeing what you've accomplished so far with yours has inspired me to go ahead with it in the project I've been planning for a while. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on your progress.

Hmm, that's strange. Try resizing the window. I don't think the game is causing that.

Yeah go for it, I would very hesitantly recommend RPGMaker MV. At this point, the amount of work I've put it, it would be more efficient just to learn Unity and not be hamstrung by RPGMaker's bizarre design choices.

::shrug::, I don't see the clash, but ok.

The character designs are random unrealistic impractical clothes inspired by overwatch.
That's what happens when you mix cyber-punk and porn. Why do they need to be realistic? Also not seeing the connection to Overwatch. Perhaps you're just not very familiar with the cyberpunk genre?

The sprite sex scenes happen in an eternal black void.
Now you're just complaining to complain. Many of the games on this site's sex scenes take place in an eternal white void. Is the switch from white to black really a problem for you?

The menu is impractical.
In what way?

The camera options are pointless and their controls overlap with other functions buttons. Combat has no fun factor and is a pain.
I see you don't like tactical RPGs. That's not a problem with the game... that's a personal preference for yourself.

World design is bad, everywhere theres the same drugs bad posters like in high school, click a movie poster the dialogue box says "movie poster" to really immerse you and npcs that are irrelevant look same as quest npcs.
You complain about lack of immersion then complain that the quest npcs look the same as generic ones. Which one do you want... immersion or no immersion? Also... is having posters you can actually look at (vs most games ignoring them) really such a big issue for you?

Theres factions called "traditionalists" and "progressives" because what else would you call them.
That's a good question. What else would you call them?

Actually... I had thought that was a design choice. I'm having the same issue. There's no way to resize the window. It's in RMMV's fullscreen mode... so no window borders.

Really?

Hmm. I was actually tooling up to do this in RMMV, even dug through your files to see what plugin you were using for the tactical components.

I mean, you'd have to make every component of the tactical system from scratch wouldn't you? RPG elements? Etc?

Pressing F4 should drop the game into a windowed mode, at which you should be able to resize the window at will. It's not really a design choice, it's just honestly because I would have to re-code the menu to include a "windowed" option and since F4 already exists... I'm spending development time on other issues.

And yes, RPGMaker is very, very good... at making simple, 2D games with a final fantasy style combat system. You'll probably have noticed that The Last Sovereign strays very little from this formula (in fact, it uses many base assets), and that's why it works so well.

However, RPGMaker is also very, very bad at making anything else. You'll run into horrible accessibility issues that modern games don't have, such as the fact that in MV, the only way to exit a game by default (without coding and plugins) is to close out it's window. One of many, many issues.

I can tell you right now that the most important plugins I'm working with is LeCode's TBS (for grid-based battles) and Cutievirus's 3D engine. The former I added hundreds of lines of code to, just for it to work smoothly, and IIRC, is now defunct and the developer is no longer working on it. The 3D engine is very new, and has a very passionate dev, but also has a fair amount of compatiblity issues with other plugins.

I would probably recommend anyone with coding experience to start with Unity instead. However, if you don't have coding experience, then RPGM is still a good option, just a very frustrating one.

Hmm, just tried it... works. I had actually tried pressing F4 before and had it not respond at all. Might have been a different computer... might have been some one-off thing (something else grabbing focus right when i pressed it?)... dunno.

As for the rest? That's serious food for thought. With Unity I'm certain I could come closer to achieving my actual design goals for the combat system and might be able to rely more on 3d assets and in-engine animations and thus not rely on an artist so much. And... well... I'm proficient in JavaScript, PHP, Python, Perl, HTML, MySQL, and have experience with Java, C, C++, and TypeScript. Learning C# and Mono really wouldn't pose a hurdle to me. Shader programming.... may take me a bit. Branchless programming sounds terrifying. But I'll probably end up using a cell-shading shader and calling it a day where shaders are concerned.

Rpgmaker is still far better at adapting to things outside of its intended purview than say, SRPG Studio. I mean even with plug-ins, it still can't make turns go by on a per unit basis like say Shining force or FFTs.

Thanks for saving me from playing this fiasco. I can't stand pure pixel sex.. that is just to me a cop out for those that can't draw. I want to see nice 2D graphics.

Oh, yeah, of course! Trans man option would be baller too. I was just kinda focused on getting to play someone like me, but I don't want to forget my trans bros out there either!
