He officially logged off of the Midlife Crisis Discord thread. Since January, he had either been on "Online" (though not participating in discussions) or "Idle", but now he is just flat out offline and has been for a few days now. So, either A) he logged off manually. B) Whatever device(s) he was using for Discord is/are off/out of juice.
Though he has disappeared (multiple) times before, this is the first time I've seen him full-on logged off of Discord...
My guess is a forced Windows Update logging him off / restarting the computer.

Yeah, it's very possible that he wasn't actually using Discord at all, but was logged into it in background. OS update would log would log out and easy not to notice if not using actively. If he actually left the server that would be something very different. First read of that post I was thinking left server. That would be bad

I went back and read the thread on Discord a bit, and appears someone on the thread tried to call him via Discord. Now, I am not going to assume as to the "why" Nefastus logged off, or whether his computer updated, or whatever theory is here, but if I were a dev behind an understandable wall of anonymity, I would have logged off, too, if someone overstepped and tried calling me. I understand folks are worried about the Nef's well being, or the future of MLC, but that is not fucking cool.

Someone gave me a tip once to just still write, but write on a different story. Stay creative and let the issue blocking you dissolve.
L Ron Hubbard {as in "Scientology", yes} had four typewriters - and he would keep a SF story in progress in one, a Western in another, a mystery in the third and an adventure story in the fourth. Whn he got cold on one, he'd move over the next.

Henry Kuttner and his wife C. L. Moore would start stories and then leave them in the typewriter if they got cold; the other would come along, read thhe completed pages lying next to the typer, and pick up where the other left off. Often, re-reading the completed manuscripts, neither could remember/tell where they changed authors...

And another one gone... with ... the same excuse as other one.

So adios and thanks for the ride I guess ?

But if he just leaved like that, I despise him, stopping loving what you do ? ok happen to anyone, but silently leaving to continue to receive money from your fan for something you will not continue ?

Only deep shit do that.

This dev has had health problems in the past. Hopefully he isn't dead or in the hospital again.

If this game is truly abandoned, it wasn't by choice. No need to throw insults at him.

and you urgently need to learn how to read because IF is an english statement that tell between 2 possibly possible things (as repy dev all find excuses to take patreon money) so IF it’s true i hope he go better if not i maintain my statement.

IF he juste left silently … read my previous message

Ok, and this is from someone who kicked him some money on SS for a long time, but if he comes back after this and doesn't have an explanation for his ghosting - he it health problems, family problems, whatever - I'm never donating to his projects again.

He doesn't have to give us his damn health records but if he's going to collect payments for the development of this game for months, never respond to anyone, then totally log out of everything cause 1 weirdo tried to call him - that's just not acceptable.

Watching this, Summertime Saga, and Milfs City's developments has changed the way I support these devs. Instead of a monthly patreon/subscribestar contribution, I just donate 20-25 bucks when they actually release a build. We gotta stop rewarding people for no work and start rewarding progress instead. Too many games are falling into this bullshit.

Again, this little bitchy essay I've written only really applies if dude isn't actually having significant enough health problems to warrant ghosting for a bit. Maybe he'll come back with a solid excuse and I'll just look like an asshole but idk guys it's not looking good lol

I've seen so many games getting abandoned or given a crappy rushed ending or milked to oblivion. Nowadays, I only donate when either the game is already completed, near completed (and still being updated regularly and reliably) or they have completed a game I really like and are currently working on a new game that I also really like (aka are proven to be trustworthy). All other devs are nothing to me (support wise) until they meet my qualifications... which sounds weird but it is what it is.

If everyone had standards similar to mine, there would probably be a lot less bad devs out there taking advantage and the good devs would likely be receiving a lot more money for their hard earned work.

That's my opinion anyway.

How do you call someone on discord? Is it like pinging them?

You spoke the truth, as many developers put games up for sale for $20 or less on Steam, and buyers paying only once end up receiving all the updates.

Honestly, I'm currently supporting Evocation Games on Patreon for two main reasons. One is that they are doing a remaster of Escape Velocity and I was a former beta tester for the game.. :) (Not a visual novel game, but everyone has their own reasons for supporting)
