Imo, just do not show it as a Latest game update, and ppl should be fine.
The biggest problem is ppl coming here, expecting a game update, and finding something different. So their expectations is not met, and some of them lash out.

I agree with lemon on this one. There are a couple other games that offer alternate paths and new threads were made for them. It makes sense to me.

Okay, I was too specific. What I meant was "not release it at all", as he originally considered. Maybe to a couple of really close friends - but not on Patreon or anywhere else. And if one of his friends drop it, then stop that, too, for the time being.

Though if it does get released - it indeed should go into its own thread. Most spinoffs I know like "Scenes that didn't happen" or "XY side story at this point in time" get their own threads.

As for me, I liked it that it popped up in "latest&updates".
Last played it a couple of years back in ´21, liked it very much but lost track of it over time.

Got surprised by that not-update and remembered liking this game.
Started again from the beginning and liked every minute of those many hours playing it again.
This is an absolute gem!

Not interested in the dark path though. Think, it would kind of ruin the MCs bubbly character for me.

But I can´t wait for the next update and very much look forward to it.

While I agree, there is one other issue. IF an actual update were to become available in the next two weeks then it wouldn't show up in latest updates and one could easily miss it.

Because games cannot be promoted on the Latest Updates page less than 2 weeks apart in order to prevent update spam, eg a dev putting out repeated bug fixes to keep their game on the first page

The OP would still be updated but it wouldn't be moved to the top of Latest Updates again

Of course, Nef is well aware of this so wouldn't try to update within that 2 week window. Additionally, the fact that the Dark Version is an exercise to deal with writer's block means v0.34 isn't likely to be finished within that window anyway

Appreciate the feedback, but need to clarify a few points.

This isn't really a "side project" that is starting. I saw I could reuse a lot of renders from MLC and twist it into a neat little version one that a friend/supporter would enjoy. I started writing a darker scene as a way to combat writers block. Someone gave me a tip once to just still write, but write on a different story. Stay creative and let the issue blocking you dissolve.

I enjoyed the writing, it's nice to step out of my comfort zone and will probably improve writing all around, but MLC is still my main focus. This project will continue, but more of a as I find time type thing. My plan is to continue writing it when not working on MLC, then once I get nearly a full update I'll run the renders and edit etc...

Once I sent it to my friend, he and a couple of others played it and thought I should release it to everyone. I just offered it here as a nice little diversion/treat, trying to get as much feedback as I can. It's not replacing the main game, and it won't be a "release one project then work on the next project until that's released etc..." like some devs with multiple games do. This will be a "release whenever the heck I think a full update is ready" type game. Will always be free when it releases, not trying to make money off it since it will be erratic releases, but if I am going to do the work anyway I figure why not share it.

I loved it. I wish it would become like "weird shit is going to happen" but I understand why it's not.
My one complaint is Sandra starting off as such a cunt. She is one of my favorites and would of loved to see her innocent and naive and be broken that way , but taming of the shrew it is.

Only other complaint is more towards the forum, they shouldn't be in the same thread. It's asking for "warriors" on each side to troll.
