I could point at least 20 competent creators that could really greatly benefit from 1/20 of the ICSTOR support and greatly expand their projects because of that.

Since it's not my money, I couldn't care less of it, but I wished that I've never played this game at the first place. Damn you Chloe18 Back to Class that was so bad that I had to search for anything to remove the bad taste on my mouth with an actually good game.

ICSTOR already does have a writer, actually, he posts here as Onyxdime. And I honestly think the story in this game is pretty good, by the standards of other porn games on this site.

Onyxdime literally has to put words to the pictures for the entire update within just a few days before an update's release. Producing good work quickly under a tight deadline is not my strong suit: It takes me months to produce anything good. Plus, because he has to work with pre-made renders, it's very Marvel Method-y, and it's much harder to do good storytelling this way than writing a script that the artist then puts pictures to.

(Also I work purely in prose and have no experience writing for comics or VNs, unless you count my fanfic mod for KoD. All in all I'd be a bad choice.)

It does, each girl has their own storyline with a coherent arc. There's no overarching story that ties all of these sub-narratives together, but this is what you have to do in a sandbox-style game like this, where you can do routes in any order and ignore girls you don't like.

Most games are done like that actually, specially in the AAA game industry. They first decide the mechanics, gameplay, style, locations, length, etc and the story comes last. But yea I don't like that model

Here's basically how it works.

ICSTOR comes up with a broad outline for how the next chapter in a particular girl's arc will go in an update. I believe this is actually written down and given to Onyxdime later, but it might just stay in his head.

ICSTOR then makes renders for the story as detailed in the broad outline. When these renders are done, they're sent to Onyxdime, who writes dialogue to go with each image into a script. Finally the script is sent to a coder who actually implements the script + images into a playable VN.


It makes sense to do things this way if you're an artist, not a writer, but you still want to be the one with full creative control over the story and where it goes. The main problem is, other than the constraints it puts on the writer, the other members of the team have nothing to do but sit on their hands until the renders are all done. This can be fixed to a degree with some assembly line-style production: Sending renders to the writer in bundles rather than waiting until they're all done. This is apparently what they've started doing: ICSTOR mentioned that his coder has already completed some new minigames, which implies they were sent the renders used for those games before the whole set of renders was finished.

0.5c was released on November 20. It's about 3 months from November 20 right now. It would be 4 months if I was counting the Xmas release.

Hey everyone, it’s almost the end of the month so I wanted to give you guys a quick update. The progress is going really well. Since my last update we have doubled the size of the next release to over 2000 images (and still growing!)

Unfortunately, we haven't managed to get everything completed this month so we have to push this release a little bit. But as I said before you can cancel your pledge for the next month and you’ll STILL get the update. I promise that this is the last delay and we’ll try to release the updates every 2-3months just as it used to be. I can’t wait for you guys to try this new version, there’s a lot of hot stuff and a lot of surprises and bonuses. If you can give us just a little more time to finish the remaining 10% of the game, you'll be impressed by the results

When it comes to the version 0.7 and v0.8 at the moment nothing has changed. Those updates will be smaller, but they should be released on time. At least, that is the plan and I hope that everything goes smoothly. Thanks again for your continued support. The end is in sight!
