I'm honestly looking more forward to that than the actual update itself it will be entertaining to see how this thread evolves once the update drops.

I will just grab the update.
That won't be the first time the same this situation happens around here and i doubt it will be the last. They will be singing praises for about a month before the complaints about the next release start again.

It's a shame because this is one of my favorite games but his patreon has become a cow farm where people willingly get milked without being rewarded. Sure, he could switch his Patreon from "per month" to per "creation"; but that would mean that he would have to work faster and drop more updates or just lose about 90% of his annual income through Patreon. But let's be honest. This is about porn games. It's not about morals or dignity. Enough authors have dropped from the face of the earth and there are only a few cases (Pandelo comes to mind) where they willingly stopped pledges for patrons themselves. Most of them keep milking people and it's not their fault for abusing people who seemingly pledge 10-20 bucks just to get a monthly apology (or even less). We're living in a time where lonely dudes pay 5 bucks of Fiverr so girls play League of Legends with them. It's a market, even though it's "just" 3D chicks.

If we want change, we don't just have to meme the shit out of the lazy ones. We have to drop the pledges and pledge to those 10-20% of authors who keep delivering. We gotta reward those who deserve it. That's why I'm pretty picky about my pledges.

Without going into all the variables of writing I just want to touch on a few points.

-George R.R. Martin is a hack. I can only assume the reason we haven't seen the rest of his series is because he ran out of Western history to plagiarize.

-I have always found Stephen King's writing to be a little coarse and unpolished. His beginnings and middles are great, his endings are weak.

-I know that when I have those three things and I sit down to write, I can easily bang out 10k words in an afternoon. Maybe it's a gift.


The whole point of my post was that I do not find 60k to be an unbelievable benchmark. If Icstor says he's laid down 60k for this update, I have nothing, based on my personal experience, to doubt that. Though others lacking my personal experience clearly do.



And this is purely conjecture and highly dependent on the writer. My man Terry Pratchett wrote over 40 excellent novels in his lifetime, a couple of those while he had Alzheimer's. Perhaps story telling just comes more naturally to some than others. Either way, 60k is not a stretch.

Yeah, I know you were answering the "60k is impossible, man. I mean, what about The Bible, huh?" claim. It's just that, reading your statements on writing, I felt compelled to answer. And that's because, as you can see, we have entirely differing views on the subject. But what I said is not a conjecture; you (or anyone) can agree or disagree, but it's derived from a personal understanding of the creative process based on my academic knowledge on the matter and my experience (as I think it was made apparent, I'm also a writer, only not a video game writer). Of course, talent and capacity can make the difference (sometimes, all the difference), but, honestly, I don't think that has much to do with productivity. One person could fill pages for 8 hours straight a day, and still be unable to produce a text of literary value, while another would need the same time to produce 2 pages. But those are pages you never forget once you've read them.

Anyway, I just wanted to add this without derailing the topic up to the point of forcing a mod to pull the off-topic-ending hammer.

P.S. Oh, and let's just say that we have different views on most of the authors mentioned too, although just discussing Martin's merits (or lack therof) would take too much time. Well, at least we concur when it comes to Prachett.

I won't get caught up in this rant, I will say this, "I was a Patron, now I am not". If you bother to look at his Patreon page you will note that he has 7486 monthly "patrons", now do some simple math if all of them "only" donate $1 dollar a month (and most were higher than that, I know I was) that amounts to $89,832.00 dollars a freaking year. Now where I live most people make less than a third of that working their butt's off 40 hours a week, so I feel that is some pretty good money to make games for people to fapp to.

I dropped my patron-age a few months ago due to the length of time between updates and have no regrets,

Unlike that other guy, I’m actually from the future. Here’s what really happens:

- Congress decides to settle the Trump impeachment thing with a high stakes pie eating contest involving all members of both houses, but it degenerates into a massive barf-o-rama when AOC pre-game chugs a bottle of castor oil to get back at Nancy Pelosi.

- Vladimir Putin promotes a bunch of white supremacists into his government and decides to save western civilization by nuking Germany and Western Europe. Trump nukes large portions of Africa and South America in an attempt to get revenge on the white supremacists.

- Despite dangerous levels of vomit and nuclear holocausts, ICSTOR manages to release a Milfy City Halloween special with approximately six minutes of playtime. The October release is, naturally, delayed for this.

- The release is rescheduled for late November, but is postponed to release a Thanksgiving mini-game involving Bob, the gremlin, and a turkey baster.

- Trump, acting on advice from his son Barron, tweets angrily at ICSTOR and, in a phone call with Italy’s new PM Salvini, threatens to put tariffs on Italian exports unless his government investigates the recurring delays in the Milfy City release. Democratic primary candidates respond heatedly, with Warren commenting “Me pay heapum big wampum in Patreon subscription”, Sanders screaming about “fatcats smoking cigars while young twin sisters struggle” as he flails his arms, and Biden making excited groping motions with his hands whenever Sara is mentioned.

- ICSTOR promises a December release as global media begins a concerted campaign against “incestcels” and their online campaign of misogyny and racist terrorism.

- After a series of mass shootings during the holiday season, before which the perpetrators posted anti-ICSTOR manifestos on the online hive of villainy and terrorism known as F95, Patreon pulls the plug on all erotic games, including Milfy City, just days before ICSTOR’s scheduled release. ICSTOR is extradited from Italy and forced to testify in front of a Congressional hearing, while the evil website F95 is seized and shutdown by the Department of Justice and the FBI conducts raids on its most prominent posters.

Now correct me if I'm wrong here. Icstor said you'll still get the update if you stop supporting him now. But payments are at the beginning of the month, if you stop supporting him now, you've already paid for the month of September assuming it comes out this month. However if it comes out October and you opt out now, doesn't that mean you won't be able to see Icstor's Patreon posts of October, including the update release if it releases next month?

If I'm correct on how Patreon works then that is the most fishy thing ever. Plus if he's so vocal about how you have the option to not support him, he should just pause pledges, that'll make it so people feel less cheated money-wise but he doesn't....

He has the emails of all these people who were pledging to him as he claims. So everyone is getting an email when it's out.

Things can't go that bad. Maybe it drops to 5k-6k in the worst case. Icstor sucks at timings, but his overall output is good.
His average output was 280-310 renders per month. Now if we really get 2237 that would be decent for 7 months of work, like 319 per month.
