The problem isn't that ICSTOR lied it's that he sucks at doing it. When he initially delayed the update to August it was because he wanted to add the neighbors, when in reality it was because Caroline and the teachers content wasn't finished.

How I would've lied is by stating to make up for the time that I took off I'll expand the content for the ladies of the 0.6 update. When in reality I wouldn't expand it I'd just take the extra time I bought to finish the content I originally had planned and if there's extra time throw in some bonus scenes. No one would've been none the wiser and the update would release in August.

What ICSTOR did was tack on more work to a project that wasn't even near completion and had to most likely force himself to create a narrative for characters that he didn't even have planned and probably forgot. That also takes time. If ICSTOR is going to lie all the time the least he could do is take all that money and invest in speechcraft cause all his stat checks are failing at this point.

No. There were a clear goal and promise on the Patreon (you can still check those) "When we cross the threshold, creating the game for you will become a job for me, it means that I will work on it for most of the time! This means very rapid updates!".
So since then he is kind of employee for patrons

ICSTOR has a messaging problem. There's studies that show that if people are in a long line and someone cuts in front of them. The person wouldn't mind it as much it he was at the back. He would mind a whole lot more if someone cut in front of him if he was at the front of the line. The key is that waiting is an investment. If you didn't wait long and was told there would be some delays then that's fine. But if you waited a long time, was told that it was 95% done and the wait was nearly over but then was told you'd have to wait another 3 weeks then you'd have what's happening here.

ICSTOR needs to learn how to better manage expectations. People who want to support him are now turning.

Well, I would say it's mostly the other way around. A lot of people explaining how difficult it is to test, write or code, but they have no experience what so ever in these areas. Those who have actually worked (semi) professionally with these things usually explain that it's not all that difficult. Or at least nothing that should take as long as things are taking.

Why would anyone spend his/her time fixing someone else's retardation while they pocket 50 000 dollars a month? I know several cases of people telling the professional ren'py coders how to do things more efficiently and they always get laughed at or shrugged off. Patreon projects are in the business of finding excuses for milking, not releasing proper games. If you want finished games, go browse the Steam store or something.

Adding the Neighbours was probably something Icstor tried to hide behind why he was gonna be late. He said that it would finish in August with them included. But I think he didn't realise, that he didn't establish anything about them, and he had to invent them from the ground up, so he had to create whole new content he didn't have any context to, not even a concept of what they could do, whereas if he just made Caroline and Celia, he had already a lot on his mind he wanted to do with them and a big part their story was already established.

I thought that the update would be realistically finished by August without the neighbours and I was fine with that, but when I read about neighbours who had just one tiny unrelated scene, I was thinking "How the hell is he gonna make it if he has to create 2 new characters from scratch?". Well... we see the result. He should have just said "I will finish in august with the planned content and some extra scenes, sorry for the delay, I underestimated the amount of work." or something like that. In the end, I don't think it hurt him anyway, because he has a ton of patrons, but it would at least be a fair move and it wouldn't cost us that those hundreds (hey, it's probably more than a thousand) pages of spam.
