Where do you get that 8 dollars average from?

I feel like the last posters figures are far closer to the truth.

Whatever the case, who knows what's going on. Maybe they are implementing features that were more complicated then previously anticipated. All I know is that his PR game is abysmal. If I were him with even 150k+ per year I would just outsource a ton of the workload if I am uninspired. His income is high enough that he doesn't have to put in a lot of effort himself. Just seems very strange to screw over such a great source of income. The guy is set for life and he could literally build a company in which he divests most of the design decisions to people who are more motivated.
A little bit of Googling would help you answer that question. Here you go. Enjoy

He spent all of 2019 doing nothing went on a 2 month break which was 8 months long to release like 400 renders, he has lots his touch and passion for the game I think.
He doesn't want to work on this anymore. But he also don't want to give up the monthly 30k. If this continues, the project will be known as MILKY city.

This is a shame, because unadvised people could be supporting good, active developers.

Why is this thread still so active? Let it go.
this dev is milking his sheep like a half million dollars a year while only working 2-3 months out of the year. i come back here 1-2 times a month or so because i'm morbidly curious on how far he can take this.

this is peak capitalism. make the most money while doing the least possible amount of work.

Actually, "peak capitalism" means no barriers, including barriers of information. We only have these kind of aberrations because people, for some reason, don't know other good developers.

capitalism thrives on putting barriers on information. pharma companies concealed the addictiveness and dangers of opioids for 20 years. monsanto knew that agent orange caused cancer when they were selling it to the US military as a herbicide. these are just basic examples.

but i agree on the second part, people need to broaden their horizons.

what hes doing is communism
is anyone holding guns to the heads of the goons laying out money? no? then it's capitalism. they are voluntarily paying

i came from a communist country. that's all i'll say on the topic . discussing it further with people who didn't live through communism is pointless.

Capitalism thrives on freedom and competition, some companies thrives on their consumer dumbness (and/or shady deals with the government).
