I think Patreon is supposed to be a tool to support an artist and allow him/her to reach a wider audience, making videogames is an artistic endeavor, ICSTOR has the luck of having a niche that is willing to fund him, making money off porn is never a safe bet, look at Playboy going on and off about having nudity to reach a wider audience, ILLUSION arguably the biggest 3D smut making company in Japan is dead.
What ICSTOR is supposed to be doing, is something he enjoys, writing stories about incest with nice looking characters, at his own pace, with the kinks he chose, and he was lucky to find a lot of people that would throw money at him.
Your job doesn't have to be your life but when it such a large chunk of it, it should be ideally something that makes you happy or at least gives you new skills I think.
In this case it was writing, rendering and a bit of programming with RENPY, that's at least 3 skills that he can hone while doing something he can enjoy to a community that chose to follow him, meaning he could engage with people who like him.
He is in this position again, by luck, where he chose to forfeit his work, ignore his community, and still get money, but what did he lose? He gained resentment, hatred, alienation, lost many supporters and in the meantime his skills probably remained static, he did have to rely on an external writer too, so he chose stagnation, I don't think in the long term is the sort of path that will give him happyness.
The damocle's sword, whatever makes up his conscience will still tower over him I think. Maybe just a tiny prick.
Not saying you're wrong, but with the money he's made for the past couple of years, I honestly would do the same fucking thing If I had the chance.

As for porn being unreliable, sure it is, but then again, it went to shit for various reasons:
-it's now much more regulated than before, or even blocked in many countries at this point.
-many things that people would enjoy watching, are now illegal all over the place.
-agendas have been pushed, that people do not find exciting (interracial, fat & ugly women, trans and the like.) This is why many people switched to amateur porn for a while, instead of sticking with pornhub and the like. This in turn, snowballed into stuff like onlyfans and camsluts in general, because porn no longer served their kinks, or constantly plastered things the majority of people found disgusting on their homepages/banners/ads. The same is starting to happen on AVNs, the amount of trash posted every day, far out weights the stuff people would actually enjoy at this point.
The quality has dropped as well since the past. When I was a teenager, and "borrowed" VHS tapes my parents hid, porn had an actual story, dialogues and what not. Now, it's just short bullshit stuff, mostly pile drivers and squirting with fat unattractive women, you can barely make the difference between one movie or the next. AVNs are following the same destructive choices, it's becoming difficult to make the difference from one game to the next, except for a very few good ones, they're all basically identical, have the same tags, and many share very similar stories as well, always trying to cater to a too large audience, leading to people being turned off , down right to disgusted, by what some games eventually try to implement.
As for Illusion, they've only got themselves to blame for it, they have for a very long time, not allowed their products to be bought outside of Japan, or be translated. When you add the sanctions, regulation and changes Japan has implemented, they've basically missed their shot at expending outside their country while they could, and would have been able to spread a lot more back then. They used to be revolutionary when they released their first games, and instead of getting better and better, they pretty much have stuck to the same stuff without improving or innovating much.
As for Icstor, to get back on topic, while it is despicable, I really can not blame him. If people are too fucking stupid, and keep throwing money at him in amounts large enough to feed a small family every month, I say good on him.
Too bad for us, since we'll likely never get the finished game, but I really can't fault him for choosing an easy life, being paid a rather large sum, for doing nothing.

my first guess is that onyxdime is gonna come back at a later point and claim that he received more new renders to write the dialogues for. the harem ending and more caroline content come to mind since he's been pretty explicit about the lack of either in the alleged final version.

Surprised there hasn't been a bigger uproar in his discord. Considering he has yet to come up with another excuse as to why Milfy City is delayed again. With any luck, his patreons gain some sense and stop supporting him. Then maybe we'll see something
Well it's been known over the years that whoever kicks or talks against him on DISCORD gets banned. It's only full of his true Kool-Aid drinkers. Anyone else who goes on there and questions, they're shown the door and banned. At least that's how it used to be. I doubt they ceased that practice

Meanwhile, in come others to reward charlatans, cheats, shoddy product or even thin fucking air, like a troop of rabid baboons flinging shit at suburban families in a zoo.
This is just how it is and how it's gonna be. Rageposting will not help. The only thing to do is to convince as many people as you can that pre-orders, blind crowdfunds/kickstarts, predatory MTX and hypefarming are bad and shouldn't be engaged in. If you have the idea that you're paying for specific sorts of content delivery, you are the wacked out one. Not the dev. But I guess if you get 4,000 people who think they're paying for something specific and that when that something isn't delivered on their timeline a more effective form of protest is to complain about it online rather than discontinue their financial support, well........... more power to the dev.
