His more realistic approach and more grounded stories were where the attraction was, he made a suburban story of a middle class family where the MC has a crush on his teacher. The animations were looped but they had variation which made it feel different, he only started making longer loops after he met one of his financial goals on Patreon and worked on the game full time.As far as I know, this is one of the oldest AVNs on this site as well. So, it's pretty normal that many of us have had that one as one of the first, if not the first AVN we played
If memory serves, ICSTOR's games, big brother and ICcreations' were some of the biggest/most popular games back in that time, for small/indie devs (we have to ignore the professional japanese/hentai games of that time, since we're talking a different beast here), hence, a lot of players will have memories from those as well. With a high chance those were their first AVNs as well

This game, may well be the oldest game "still in development" on this site, which would be rivaling some AAA games as far as "time in development" goes. I could well be wrong, but the only game that has been "in development" longer without a released product at this point, may be star citizen.
Also this was around the time Rule34 became a thing which is a Internet meme to describe that "anything goes" in pornography and is also one of ICSTOR's main inspiration to create this game if I am not mistaken. Also remember incest...I can't believe I am saying this...WAS taboo back then...it's nuts to think this is the norm now in porn, thus Milfy City was considered to be a very taboo game back then. With the combination of super fit models and a sandbox mode to free roam fuck all the girls, he basically created his golden goose.
The timing and pacing of the game was also sped up but felt good and saved us from all the backstory as we figure that out along the way. Linda being the main Li was chasing the MC from the word GO!, usually it's the MC perving on the Li's so this was also very different.

Also fun fact, Linda's reason for sexually perusing MC was because of the fantasy love novel (the book in her room) which IS based on Rule34 erotica. The therapist (Judy) was added to help her work through her feelings and emotions, which I guess is adding in the reality aspect to the game, otherwise she's just a predator of lust and quickly becomes a one-dimensional cougar character hunting for prey and not a "landlady" of 3 "tenants" in search of love. MC gets rejected from his crush (Celia) but finds something better at home as the landlady and landlord have a falling out.

We gotta give it to him. The guy worked very hard! As we remember, it was very hard to delay the release past August, but he made it! He gathered all his strength, all his will power and made the impossible! But he didn't stop then! He set another ambitious goal - the maximum of 2 weeks' delay. And once again, he pushed himself to the maximum! And once again, he rose above all obstacles and he made it! He has gone farther than ever before! And you know it, he's not gonna stop now! What's the next pinnacle gonna be? Folks, I have a feeling we're about to find out!

As sivertop pointed out, in ICSTOR's case it doesn't really matter. This game has pretty much been dead for years and he still has a shitton of subs.
