My theory is that the guy who originally founded ICSTOR sold off the IP and profile to someone. I think it happened around 3/4 years ago. The new owner probably can't even make games/assets. Most likely someone was hired for this last update to just create illusion that this project is steal alive. Current plan is to maintain patreon income for as long as possible to return investment from purchasing ICSTOR profile. At first I conveyed it as far fetched conspiracy theory but at this point I think it would be the most logical explanation of what is happening. Most likely we are witnessing someone who has this panned out for years and makeing income of previous author reputation.

Plausible, but I doubt it. It probably went something like this:

1. Make degenerate game to make a living
2. Hit the jackpot
3. Buy the things you always wanted (car, house, wife)
4. Reason to make this game disappears: you have wealth, a house and a wife
5. 3 years of desperate shitposting on a pirate forum is the only consequence of your actions

He's been clearing at least 300K per year (after 50% taxes and other costs) for 4 years, so a moderately smart person would never have to work again.


Or blow it monthly on coke, gambling and hookers. That's probably more likely.

I know the mods have guidelines to follow in regards to adding an abandoned tag or not, but surely this dev has proved that the guidelines need to be changed/updated? Clearly when it was marked as abandoned it put a fire under his arse (for maybe a week) and he forced out one shitty update but at least it was something. As soon as the abandoned tag was gone he immediately went back to milking. The guidelines for the abandoned tag really need to be examined and revised, it's in the best interest of everyone except the scammers.
