The thing is even after he had his Patreon where he charged for his fanTLs (something that he can't legally do since he doesn't own or has any rights to the original content) he would actually distribute the games themselves with the translations instead of just providing a patch. I think he only stopped after getting called out here.

Try reading what you wrote on one breath. How can you write like that and complain about MTL ...
Anyway I do not think there is any standard on what can be sold as official translation given that we had legit unedited MTL sold on both Steam and DLsite as official English versions. What matters is if there are people willing to pay him/them for their translations and that is really the only approval they need.
