Ok, guys. I did die. After so long since my last post I managed to finish writing all major quests except for the final one, for which I already have a good sketch.
Spoiler alert
I'm really making this post to discuss a little about Plansect quest, since I'm planning to make a few changes to it, but that I think are for the better.
First of all, Torotoro never gave us any idea as to why the races were fighting. I understand that it wasn't his intention to have the player ponder as to which side was right and which was wrong and just explore the tragedy of war. But as you already know me, of course, that's not enough for me, so yeah, I'll be exploring more of this.
I wanted to give them a realistic reason to fight so I began thinking about the modern conflicts and there's one that fits the bill. And no, it's not Ukraine. That doesn't work here since there's a clear idiot who is using guns where diplomacy should be the correct weapon (Though Russian and Chinese diplomacy seems to be "threatening until submission"), that's not the case for Plansect conflict at all.
The conflict I choose is really fitting for this story. Israel and Palestine. Yeah, I know, people consider this a controversy, but seriously, it's perfect. When talking about this conflict people tend to just pick a side and ignore the reasons of the other while justifying all kinds of abuses. Kinda reminds Luka when he entered Plansect, don't you think?
So the gist of it will be: Insects lived there, got kicked by the humans during Black Alice war, humans didn't colonize, Plants came there, rebuild the city from the ashes, insects began moving there, during the current war, they migrated there in high number, now they want more political power, the plants refused to give it to them, they got fed up, and bang, war.
So the plants gonna take the role of Muslims, insects the role of Israel, and Alice the role of the UK, getting fed up with that conflict and washing her hands.
I'll, of course, remove some of the big details of the actual conflict, for example, there will be no Jerusalem here nor anything related to religion.
I just want to make it clear that I'm not defending either side. Neither am I saying the solution for that mess is to do as Luka did and crush both sides. In fiction, you can take liberties and simplify things, but in real life, things usually aren't that simple.
With that out the way, I decided to replace most monster girls here. Sincerely, those are the worst designs of the entire game. I'm taking monster girls from other parts of MGQ like Auraune and dryad, as well as monster girls from Paradox and other games to replace them. Alra Priestess had a good design and some cool CGs in Paradox, so she stays. As for the queen bee and her hornets, they don't have a CG, so are being replaced too. After thinking, I decided to replace them with arachnes to fit the insect theme (Yeah, I know spiders aren't insects since insects have 6 legs, and spiders have 8, but it's close enough). The arachnes of Paradox will replace the hornets and Arachne Lord will be pulled to here to replace Queen Bee.
As for the people who didn't want to fight and fled... Well, that's bullshit. Any army is just as strong as the economy behind it, you can't have a war without someone producing at least supplies. So I'm replacing them with something a little more realistic, the civilian population.
As for the reward scene, It's going to be Arachne Lord's "Nipplejob" (not sure how that is called). I'm making a few changes to the dialogs so she will still be glad you changed sides at the last minute and as such saved the insect civilians who would be wiped out. The CG is a little bondage, but well, let's say she still held a little grudge.
Well, that's it for now. Things may be progressing slowly, but are progressing. I don't intend to give up on this project until its completion. Thanks for the patience.
