Texas isn't exactly the conservative stronghold it used to be either. And here we're talking about, among others, a teacher and a lawyer, meaning university educated professional women. Not exactly the kind of people most likely to both think and sound like a shitposter on 4chan. And I repeat, two of them talk like this to a stranger who they can't know for sure how he is going to react. Most people are, regardless of ideology, more careful with out of the blue introducing their divisive political opinions to strangers, and clients/customers no less.I do agree that some of it gets a little too in your face, but you've also got to consider the setting of the game. Texas isn't exactly a progressive stronghold in America. The same year that China opened its first youth transgender clinic politicians in Texas started drafting what's commonly referred to as anti trans legislation. While I've never been there to discuss transgender issues with Texans I'm guessing the character's probably match public perception there pretty decently. You're likely bound to find people even in a high end professional setting making regressive comments about "apache helicopter people".
For what it's worth there's about a 50/50 that I'll use the censor patch, not because I dislike that the dev put those jokes in, but because I just think it'll make the characters making those jokes more likeable.
But even so, one brass, cursing and shit talking super conservative university educated lady would be fine. People can be different. The real problem for me is that it's not one, not two, but three different women who, in the span of a couple of days in game and a couple of minutes for the player, spout the same kind of unlikely opinions in the same kind of unlikely language. Then it's not one different character, but the dev screaming his political views to my face. And that ruins the immersion for me.
At least two thirds of those words are found in this very game we're talking about. But maybe you didn't understand it then either? Could be the reason you're defending it...The fact that you think I have any clue what the hell you just tried to say there tells me there are a LOT of things about the way you think that I don't want to know.
I guess you forgot that you were complaining about a review docking the game one star for being overly political. I gave you an explanation for why this is annoying (I agree with the reviewer). If you don't want to understand, that's up to you."but", in this case, meaning disregard what was just said... Aaaaaannnnndddddd I rest my case.
