To be fair I'm saying this as someone who had to mentally de-scramble cable porn back in the day, but some people are able to fill in the gaps in their head enough that mosaics are barely noticeable. Plus, I'll take mosaics over a badly drawn de-censorship job any day of the week, thank you very much, as some of those are downright terrible in quality.
That said, I must thank you most kindly for bringing this game back to my attention, as I never did finish Sumika's route in the end. I now do wish to see if Unlimited & Alternate are as worth it as people have said.
Edit: Now that I think about it, how does the official release compare to the old Amaterasu translation patch? Figure I'd ask before I go hunting for whichever hard drive I still have that one on.

Speaking of, do disregard my previous question concerning the translation. I realized after the fact that whatever slight differences there would be in that would be vastly overshadowed by the potential hack job that cropping CG made in 4:3 down to a 16:9 ratio usually entails. I'm still irked by Funbag Fantasy, and that series is going to keep me busy enough restoring the original CG that I don't need to add another project to it.

Yeah, I don't understand why they don't simply add black bars on the sides to these old 4:3 games. They always force this 16:9 aspect on them even though it's obvious these games weren't designed with it in mind. I'm curious about your project regarding Funbag Fantasy. Is it going to be a patch of some sorts?

At this point it's more of a fist-shaking, proof of concept experiment for when I find myself bored on my days off, as I'm interested to see if the English release can display the original sized CG (it does have 4:3 resolution options, though it just places the text box below the 16:9 images) or if it's more feasible to just rip the translation and pop it into the original JP version.
Either way it'll probably remain a personal hack-job, as the level of jank I'm willing to deal with is well above what one would expect from a proper fan-patch.
well the original patch still works and. Unless Japanese law changes those mosaics aren't going anywhere
Stick to indie vns who's developers are based outside of Japan if you want to see anime gentiala that badly
Have you been living under a rock, there had been eroges that have no mosaic censorship when they were released to the west.
I when discovered that Muv Luv still had mosaic censorship months ago, I deleted it from my computer.
I looked around and it seems that no one has answered you. While it's been years since you ask, but i will answer it anyway.
First thing to get off is the gender. You play as a Male protagonist.
Chronologically, The main game follow the rute of MuvLuv, then Unlimited, Then Alternative.
Photonflowers & Photonmelodies, Chronicle and Day After, are basically just side story.

I did as the installation instructions said, extracted the game's folder (muvluv) to drive C:/ then extracted the director's patch then clicked the ages.bat then went through director'scut.exe then launched with smart steam loader.exe but then after playing it the extras's menu on the main menu wont open up leaving the word extras greyed out and after finishing unlimted meiya's route it bypassed the hscene
what did I do wrong during installation? running on windows 10

Okay i think its resolved now? after doing the install steps it allows me to either plau unlimited or extra straight off the bat. Apparently I shouldnt be able to do this and only be able to play or unlimited after clearing sumika and meiya's routes in extra.
What i did was get the common ending in extra then went straight for meiya in unlimited. after going back to extra and clearing sumika's route I am able to see the H Cg's from the meiya route and the extra menu now despite not having actually seen the meiya h scene cg in my unlimited playthough. I haven't tested whether or not if I redo meiya's route in unlimited if I'll get the proper H scenes again

Can anyone help? I still get this error even after finishing installing director's cut patch: "The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP100.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."
