Well, it doesn't surprise me, they were clear, a few years ago, they want to bann all NSFW content, and they recive their main income from YouTube, also controvesial content created by Artist, is banned as well.
Even if I interpret it like Satou said (no kidding this time) it is like Badjourasmix said, not being concrete with examples and in case of any sign of trouble "drop it like a hot potatoe"
Did they ask you to stop right away? because by their definiton every AVN on their site is in that genre.

No, they didn't ask me. They sent an updated policy about AI-generated content (independently of its SFW-ness) and NSFW content. That was the more worrisome paragraph.

Well if they do that and try to "drop it like a hot potato", they'll see how much money they'll lose

FatGiant ; It would be for shure satisfactory, to actively contribute to their destruction,
on the other hand is the even minimal energy to do so worth? they are abusing (from the sight of Indie game developers) their position, all devs whitch comented about them, more or less feel hostage of their rules. They have them in their hand, no patreon no income so they do what they want, ss is not so popular, and the income from these games is something about 7% of their income (as some source stated)so they have a contingency plan, and act on it.

We already have Subscribestar. I think if Patreon starts cracking down on "regular" AVN creators, we will see a fast migration to Subscribestar.
Right now I exported my list of patrons on Patreon and will do it regularly, so if Patreon shuts down my page, I can offer some kind of compensation on SS, like a free month subscription or something like that.
Your first thoughts always are with your subscribers. You paused them during your vacation and you proactively export the list for a maybe worst-case compensation.
That's something that's something that sets you apart from most of the other creators. Combined with your work ethics it's a damn good package you're delivering.

Clasical Managment like Champignon growth;!
- threw shit on it
- cut down as soon some heads show up
- and let them, allways in the darkness.
anyway this is somthing, what everyone expected, else you would not have contingency plans, If you want to reach the "Gamer Comunity" and a good portion of the AVN Comunity, platforms like Steam are more acurate, I don't know but for example Erotic story writers often don't have a patreon account, Patreon got it's popularity from YT every if so small Youtuber, has a patreon account.
Else nobody would even know about their existence.

The best thing is probably to contact patreon to see if they can tell you what it actually means. To me it seems like they are just targeting A.I, it doesn't seem like it would affect adult games but we never know.

12-15% (depending on the month) in my case since itch.io shut me down but, as you say, not as popular. I think a big chunk of SS users went there because it allows for more liberty and content that isn't allowed on Patreon.

Not only for the subscribers but for the whole community. Obviously, I can't compensate someone who isn't on Patreon if Patreon shuts down my page. But I would do it if some harm came from it (delays in updates, f.e.)
The best game wouldn't exist without players to play it (and I don't mean "pay for it"). It wouldn't be a game, it would be a dev's fantasy. So thinking about the community is only logical, right?

Contacting them would only get some undesired spotlight. If they say "Oh, wow, you flew under the radar because you are tiny. Now we will shut down your page and we won't allow you to retrieve the money since the last payout" I couldn't do anything.
I've read that some devs have gotten a warning before they closed their pages, and others didn't get it. I usually have enough funds there to refund, at least, all the annual subscriptions (and most of the monthly ones) if I get a warning, so I hope to get one if they ever decide to close my page.
But I won't be asking for that warning. Right now I prefer to be able to call on "plausible ignorance" because of the generic (and interpretable) terms.

Yeah, as I said it seems that they are just targeting A.I stuff that uses images of real people or photorealistic stuff which none of these games are. So I don't think they will go after adult games. Even the tittle of the post they made suggests that it only concerns A.I content.

I don't understand some companies who want to shoot themselves in the foot by trying to get rid of a significant part of their userbase. You would think people would have learned from OnlyFans when they banned adult content on their website, that didn't last long. :ROFLMAO:

I don't think anything will happen to adult games. A.I and deep fakes have become a huge issue and the announcement they made will most likely only target content like that. If they decide to actually do something as dumb as banning all adult games, I am sure subscribestar will welcome all those devs with open arms.

The wording from Patreon looked more like a classic "zero tolerance" letter. Which basically is an umbrella rule, they can use whenever they want. Meaning if it looks like a human and is pornographic then they don't care if it is real, AI, rendered, or even hand drawn. Doubt they would go on a witch hunt for every little thing, but any complaint would give them a target and the new rule gives them just cause. If they did try to ban every artist with 18+ content they would lose a lot of money so they will just go after anything that stands out so they can show any legal groups that they are making a good faith effort just a CYA(Cover Your ASS) to avoid any problems.

Should I/we just switch to SubStar now? Almost might as well at this point.
I don't really want to start a new account right now, but I guess that would be a reason ...

I'm not worried though. If anyone I support is ever booted from Patreon, it's easy to come here and find their other support systems, so I'll stick to the one that has everything in one place until it's necessary.
