VN Ren'Py Completed My New Family [Christmas Special] [Killer7]

I get it, and I struggled with her character too at first. Despite how attractive she is to me, I hated the kind of mother she was and immediately I wanted to tell her to fuck off and not want to have anything to do with her. Truth is though, in order to advance in the game, you do kind of have to forgive and reconcile with her...at least to a certain extent. This game besides being a family harem, is all about wholesome family love, forgiveness and healing, so I can attest her story/character gets better if you just give her a chance to make it up to you.

Honestly I don't think this game is for me, I decided to give her a chance btw but yeah I don't think it's for me, reasons being the fact that there's no build up to nothing, the characters are falling in love and kissing the MC on day 1 or 2 already and they barely know him. Becca who's supposed to be the mom kisses the MC on the 3rd day already, where's the build up? I think she should've had the most buildup given the fact that she's the mom but there's none unfortunately. So this feels more like a race to fuck em all game instead of an actual story/character building AVN. The cat girl Lucy supposed to be the tsundere character and with time begin to fall for the MC but on day 2 she's practically already confessing her feelings for him, once again no build up. I don't know I guess I expected there would be more story building but there's been none so far. The game itself isn't bad I just never liked VNs where every character falls inlove with the MC without there being an actual story building towards it. Makes it feel like just another porn game where there's a little side story for each character but the main focus of the game is to fuck everyone and I personally hate porn games, I prefer adult visual novels with actual story and character building.

I'll still give this game another try tho, see where it goes, if there will actually be more story development with the characters going further but at this point he pretty much has Becca, Sandra and Lucy in the bag and I'm only by day 4 now I think, wish there was more story progression.

I think my problem is that I overestimated the game when I read that it was a story driven visual novel, that's entirely on me.

I will say.. only being in "day 4" of the game.. you are just scratching the surface. All the other detail points to kind of explain Lucy's and Becca's entire behavior and character stances dont come until later. I will give you.. even I think at times having gone thru all the currently available content.. it does seem like if there was any reality to this.. some of the conversations and realization points would have come in a different order, and would felt a bit more "natural". Some of the later convo's did make me think "Why didnt this get discussed earlier?... that would have solved sooooo many problems had it been talked about earlier" kind of thing in the sense of the lore. Beyond that though.. considering the scope of the game. You kinda have just do a bit more past the usual "suspension of belief" and just roll with it. Dont entirely put yourself in the character.. but considering what character development has been for the main character, and how HE seems to react, once he has all the details at least, the "good" choices do seem to be in character for him. Just.. kinda run with it.. and I think youll like more of the later parts as they went on. Being Day 4.. dont even think you are in Chap2 content, and it starts to get really good around 3-4.

this VN last time I played , which was before the latest update released took me about 40h to complete.. and there is A LOT of character growth, relationship build up and so on.

I get what you saying, I know I'm only in the beginning of the game and you guys who have played the entire game have waay more knowledge about the game and characters. So I'll take your word for it. And it's not that I'm putting myself in the characters, it's just the lack of build up that bothers me, are all characters just going to throw themselves at the MC without relationship building? as I said the MC has been there for less than a day and Sandra is already in love with him and by the 4th day with minimal effort the 3 main Lis are all already falling for him. perhaps you don't mind that but I prefer relationship building between the characters before reaching that point. For me a game like once in a lifetime for example(fantastic game btw, a high recommend if you haven't played it yet) can get away with lack of relationship building(not that it lacked or anything) because it has a main story and the romance and sex is secondary. but a game which entirely focuses on romance like MNF you cant rush relationships,building towards that relationship should be important and not half assed.

I'm intrigued to see how it unfolds tho seeing that this game has such high praise from everyone, just a few things here and there I'll have to ignore to fully enjoy the game.

I would like to give the Forum my personally opinion on this Game: I begun to play only a few days, and must say, I' m very drawn into the plot !
IMO the story is very good written. And I love all of the characters here. Over all others the cute Lucy. The Renders are also good.

Honestly I don't think this game is for me...

Personally I am going to stay out of the rest of the debate, but I do want to comment on this (edited to avoid wall o' text).

You are probably correct in that assumption. Based on what you said about you preferences, this might not be for you. As much as I love it, and I do love it, there are times it isn't for me either. More specifically; it isn't what I am looking for at that particular moment. Obviously I believe it is worth the play; there are times that the no drama, good-feels, are exactly what I am looking for. Might not be what you are looking for though.

This is definitely a feel-good, low-drama, lovefest. It's focus is about people healing from past issues and moving on to form a loving relationship. Basically creating the type of family bond that they all wished they had growing up. There is character development, you find out about the various pasts, you watch/help them grow, etc. but Killer himself will be the first to say it, he doesn't do major drama. It isn't what he wants to create.

Hello there you wonderful people out in the world!

Another week, another progress update!

First, another reminder that Patreon will try to recharge on the 1st again ( Friday ). So if money is tight and/or you don't want to support me anymore, don't forget to cancel your pledge before that!

Not that much to talk about regarding My New Family again. I know that the next update will be very very important, especially because I planned to hold the wedding(s) at the end of it, so for now it's just a little brainstorming in my head.

Now, My New Memories. I'm currently in the process of writing a... Let's say, different scene for the game. It's about a memory MC is getting back, but it won't be in the usual way. If you listened to Sarah's story you will visit Martin and he will tell you about a certain night where something happened... And while he tells you this, the MC will remember everything that happened that night. So it won't just be a person talking about it, you will actually see it with renders as well. Kinda like your dream sequences with Anna, just that this time it's not a dream. I'm pretty excited to hear how you guys will react to this since I plan on doing this a little more. The dream sequences where he remembers stuff are good, but I think seeing it first hand while someone retells a story is even better. Especially now that people are not hiding anything from MC anymore - even though this might cause some more issues. At least this story didn't play out as the MC hoped it would back in the day. I would say I'm about 40% with writing for the day, with the renders being made on the side as well. It will be a long one again. Sadly, this means that I can't really keep my hopes for the april release of the full update. But there will be at least one beta in April, that is a 100% promise, maybe even two. Sorry again for not really sticking to my words, I just didn't expect that.. Well, stuff in my real life happens, I guess. I can totally understand if that is upsetting for some people. Todays render is from something MC remembered regarding Annas current Situation.

Speaking of real life, I was thinking about taking a break but I ultimately decided against it. Taking a break from everything right now would probably drive me deeper into a depression phase again since work keeps me occupied, like I said last week. The situation won't get any better so "burying" myself in work is currently an option to escape this. And no worries with me getting burned out with doing that. If anything changes I'll let you guys know beforehand, not just a few days before I actually do something.

Thank you so much for all the understanding messages and comments I got. During these times they really helped me keep it together, more or less at least. It means the world to me to have such a understanding community.
