I don't mind him taking a couple of months off, everybody needs time, but there are Devs out there that will tell you this and then pause payments, like just happened a couple of days ago with NTRMAN.
This is the way I think would be fair for supporters when Devs cant come up with the goods they promised, that way he doesn't lose supporters, and supporters aren't pissed for not getting anything for there money.

I just posted a message on his board stating the following:
"First of all I want to let you know that it is great that you are doing well again,after such a long absence,and also hope that you will be making a quick recovery. What I would also recommend that if something like this happens in the future (family,sickness,Job, etc.) which can always happen, that you would make a Pause of Payments,that way you will make sure that People not hearing from you will still support you other than canceling there support for your Game (Billing Paused).
Just my Thoughts"
Just thought to see if he replies to this, cause like I said, good Devs do this for there supporters, its easier then dropping out and coming back later....
I think it is a shame for his Supporters to be Paying for something and not even getting a sign of life for so many months, but are still paying for nothing and without putting something out, and is cashing in....
For me, if it still is a quite this month, then I,m out.
