Here's a few ideas:
- make it clear when you have a working game with all core mechanics and most secondary mechanics finished
- add more character customization options when you're done with the core parts
- add more font options (I find the current font to be hard to read and annoying; use the original Free Cities font?)
- add a tutorial
- add descrptions for everything on mouse hover
- it might be wise to increase the time between releases so they feel more substantial; once you have a playable version you can increase their frequency again
- Free Cities was text based so it didn't need good graphics but since this game relies on them you'll need to put in some serious work to get some decent looks; normally I would suggest to ignore the graphics completely until you have a working game and then add them once you know exactly what you need because if the gameplay flops then the graphics are worthless

- I do this to keep me focused, with a purpose. It helps with other phycological dev aspects as well. And also to keep the "feeling" of a dead project at bay. Right now i do monthly releases (with weekly feedback to supporters), a system i want to maintain trough out the project.

I know. This i already knew, but I have to set some visual element before the game leaves the demo phase. For the next releases i plan of focusing more on coding and adding options than everything else.

Hi there legionary, first of all i salute you for undertaking this noble project of trying to elevate the game i loved so much to a new height, and i have watched in high anticipation the development of this project and can only hope for the best for you.

I saw that one of the suggestion was for a better font options and i agree with it. Since i have some background in UX/UI design i think at least i can contribute in terms of font suggestion.. i guessed that you're looking for a font that conveys the look&feel of high tech/futurism and recommend this font type:



It has a lot of font family so u can pick between many thickness option for various uses. It's also from a google fonts website, so any font you used from there has an Open Font License (You can use them freely in your products & projects - print or digital, commercial or otherwise. as long as you don't sell the fonts on their own)

I'll also attach some typographic example i've tried with the font below:

So far im very interested in this game, I personally won't be downloading it until there is some meat on this game. Although keep going the way you are and im sure in a few short months ill be spending more than a fair few hours dsicovering every little feature.

* Good job on trying to remake Free Cities. I wish you the best of luck.
* Love the option to select parts of certain edicts. I sorely issed this in Free Cities.
* Love the idea of defining a beauty/physical standard.
* A few people have already expressed their desire for more paternalistic options. I would like to add my voice to that. I'd also like an option to given an option to give the girls their freedom back. I.e. Confer citizenship on them. In case of high enough devotion in certain roles maybe they could choose to continue in their roles despite being legitimized citizens.
* Like the visual appearance changes for the boobs. May need a turn around button to actually see changes to the butt

* Quite a few typos
* Free Cities had extensive documentation. Some of the policies/ edicts don't make sense without a proper explanation. Maybe add the explanations of what every policy does?
* The blonde hair looks white. Needs more hair length options.

I didn't see anything about it by searching, but do you if everything permits it plan on allowing customization of the musculature of slaves as well?
Puny, and buff slaves etc?
Maybe even a fighting pit kind of deal, or bodyguard shindig giving stronk slaves more purpose?

this project pique my curiosity and i hope u meet your own expectation about it (nevermind mine).
back then i think we got rendered pack somewhere, but with animation well...
sold (hopefully).

as reminder, oc has no definitive lore after that 3 canon event.
and porting it to unity + upgrade the graphic leave little freedom to develop if u still use that name literally.
i remember at some point in their update the modder naming theirs the 10.8 version (either it typo or intentionally).

what still bug me till now is the penthouse floorplan, the engineering mystery of FC.
there is no limit to its development, you can make another town inside your arcology and other sector didn't affected by it at all.
*really subtle 'penthouse customization that lead to open world' suggestion attempted*

also the fetish scope of FC help broaden my view on lot of obscure thing.

take a lot of gut to stomach some of that stuff but i remember FC longer than other porn game because of it.

Don't fret yourself with responding to every idea players, and specifically these forums, throw at you. Sure, there's some good advice here, but don't get yourself locked into a feedback loop where you're responding and changing instead of making the game you envision. When you start making someone else's game, you lose your own passion and it becomes a chore. Personally, I would rather see the finished version of your game than the half-finished version of the game you try to make to please everyone else and then give up on out of fatigue and despair. You're doing great, keep on keeping on.

Okay, I lied already, here is another suggestion: Don't fret too much about documentation unless writing explanations about your game is your jam. When your game takes off and develops a loyal following because it's an awesome game, players will WIKI the shit out of it all on their own and all you will have to do is stand back and confirm or refute that they have the mechanics correct.

Just peaking at the screenies, this suddenly makes me think of a colonization game, like on another planet, like Mars. The Free Cities setup might work well there, an arcology, contained environment, etc. Very much reminds me of playing Surviving Mars.

Big fan of Free Cities, so looking forward to this. Do you plan on incorporating any content from Pregmod? Or is this a straight graphical adaptation? Or somewhere in between perhaps?

Yes and i encourage people not to download the project unless you are curious about it and it's progress. Also made changes to the main post to further express that feeling.

And i have also some policies (and events) on the circumstances that that can happen, even granting some symbolic token (like the roman "RUDIS").

It's a bug on the camera control part. Already reported. I plan on adding rotation buttons to the bottom of the screen.

If i understood correctly, you are asking about changing the body to a more "bodybuilder" type (or skinny). If it is i already made that available.
Several "fighting pits" are planned (Pit, Ring, Arena, Stadium, Dungeon), and lethality levels (i think i allready made it into a policie.... must check).

Thank you for the feedback. What i have for the penthouse, will address that engineering mystery, limiting the things that you can "build" on it. Since the penthouse is technically already built, you are going to have to chose the purpose/relocate of the penthouse space. But don't worry much about it 'cause the penthouse is big.
The fetishes are going to be "maleable". You are going to have a budget which you can use to "buy" certain aspects of some fetishes (now cultures), and/or maximize the ones you prefer not locking you to a full fetish. You chose.

I try to respond to as many people i can, when i can, and if i can't or there's nothing to add, i, at least try to acknowledge their information.... because you know.... they are my "audience". And i, as a small time indie dev, must earn my "audience", and i, as a consumer, also get i pissed when the big companies (hell, even some indies do this), don't make minimum effort to listen their fans and consumers, that are waiting and wanting to give them money for a better game, so i try not to mimic them.
I do like to look at all the feedback because my analytical and problem solving skills don't cover every aspect of game dev.
But yes, i get your point, and i tell you, worry not.

As for the docs, i don't worry, but i do like world building.

Not every content from pregmod will be added... like bestiality. I know they have the content planned, but i won't be touching it. So this will be something in between with some twists and mechanics of my own. Thank you and do keep an eye out.

I never played the original so sorry if some questions are off.
Slaves will have access to advanced schools. I agree with all of you, and paternalism was also one of my favourite play stiles, but i wanted more. And wanted more, in a true despotic fashion, to be able to affect and influence my citizens as well, and created this advanced eugenics program. The best slaves, the best tech, the best soldiers, the best citizens and.... the best ruler.

With this, the before mentioned artificial wombs and the in-game option to keep your Arcology as little known as possible, will it be possible to breed and educate leaders loyal to you and set up puppets? Like having a drug cartel or other militants outside of the Arcology that can be used to generate money or harass others without official involvement? With a chance of being discovered.

No. I don't have this planned. Sorry. But perhaps in future iterations...
Like having a drug cartel or other militants outside of the Arcology that can be used to generate money or harass others without official involvement? With a chance of being discovered.
Now something like this i do have planned.
You'll have your army and agents. Then you can plan certain actions, like raids, assaults, trafficking. Their success and exposure (arcology becomes a target) will depend on, squad size, type of action, chaos on the target zone (if aplicable) and target heat/ target prestige.

So I may sound like a idiot here so I apologize but I was wondering for future updates, would it be possible to be more specific with races? Like American? Irish? Japanese? I know you instead opted for racial groups instead which is fine but it be nice for something like a over tip box saying Spanish, irish, french etc are in this racial group.

Also, out of curiosity, how far will religion go? Can we eventually have bat shit insane zealot priests and nuns spreading our conclave's teachings?

No problemo! Those are nationalities. There are more racial groups and sub-groups but, i thing these choices encompass the majority of the human spicie, and i don't plan on adding any more.
Also, out of curiosity, how far will religion go? Can we eventually have bat shit insane zealot priests and nuns spreading our conclave's teachings?

I remember the original Free Cities giving you the ability to form your own religion/cult and thought It was interesting but you couldn't do much with it.

So far, It turning how to be a good foundation though I am surprised you went with 3D. Was that a personal choice or is it easier to use than going 2D with sprites?

For my skills... yes! For me it's more feasible, even for the animations, the choice of 3D. My 2D "art" is at programmer level :LOL::cry:

I get its barebones, but the fact you can't do ANYTHING. This is literally just a UI and animation test.
Just saying, its kind of frustrating.
