yeah, but one thing to consider tho, which basically explains my problems, is that Im on a macbook using "Wine" to launch the game. And I don't think locale emulator is available for Mac. So I've just been restarting my mac everytime I want to switch from english to japanese again, it's a pain, so I just have jp locale on default.

Well, Guilty (and Mangagamer adaptation) are only made for window. So mac OS, even using emulator may be the cause of the problem. Mac and window emulator are outside of my area of knowledge so I can't help here...

The game kept saying a bunch of DLL was missing after I solved that problem. It worked the first time somewhat, but it still played on the laptop's speakers even when I had my headset on, but after the second time now, the game screen will appear but disappear in an instant

No theres like only one scene where she breaks and that when you pick the give up choice. And no you cant protect her there is a good ending but she still gets raped alot

It is good but do not expect any gameplay. There is single decision to make, so you do not feel like part of the story.
Sex scenes are good but extremely slow, i read sentence and then wait 2minutes for it to go and autoplay futher, it is timed for dyslectic people even set to maximum text speed. At least stuff that is not voiced should go fast, i'd be fine with voiced lines to be at current speed, maybe bit quicker because there is delay between voiceline end and next line.
