Right. I guess what I didn't say is that I honestly couldn't tell you what the dev's intention was originally. If I were forced to guess, I'd say she wasn't supposed to be your real mother. The reason he's living there is convoluted either way, so even that gives no hints.
The only thing backing up my guess is the fact the game was out for close to six months before any such patch appeared.

The original story was that Phill was Brian's real dad and his mother died. One year later Phill married Jeane and that's why Brian ran away to Amsterdam, because he was angry on Phill. However the rules of Patreon stated that not even step-relationship are allowed, so I had to change it to the current story. That's why the Brian's real father story it's a bit sketchy and the patch revealed a secret which was not intended at first.

Because shit happens and Win10 tends to be a piece of shit with those shitty updates forced on your ass ... and hardware failure is always a possibility considering the amount of torture a dev's pc gets during developing. Besides royalcandy isn't a milker like some "devs" who keep promising BIIIG content and release shit but still get the G's. I like the way events unfold in No More Secrets, it's a pretty catchy plot plus we will get some sweet Jeane time maybe a 3some with Lizzie (or Amie) while Rene cheers for us or his sexy sis' joins on the action
Give him some time, the update will be worth it.

In this case they didn't disappear, they were never there in the first place, since the render batch job was interrupted.
It seems you haven't tried to give your Windows PC some huge batch jobs that strain your hardware (and especially your graphics card(s)) to its limits and takes days to finish?
Otherwise you wouldn't ask questions like this.
And most of these devs haven't done things like this for years in a row, they have almost as little experience with this as you do. They learn from these failures and usually the same thing does not repeat. Which doesn't mean that something else won't happen that interrupts or destroys the work.
