Technically a harem makes absolutely no sense but they never do however we don't know the devs plans.
Some of the girls have been really annoyed at their partners cheating which should foreshadow things going wrong if you cheat on them but, again, no idea what the devs plans are.
I am going to wonder why the girls got angry at being cheated on to allow Brian to have a harem, it makes no sense story wise and at least 2 girls will need their story retconned for it to fit but so far there are no consequences so who knows.

For example there is a girl who will be ok with you dating another 2 girls, but will not be ok with you dating only one of them, but it will be ok with the other.
