When is the next update ?

When Easter and Christmas fall on the same day! Mr.silverlust has been very tightlipped about the update and even if he told a date, he most likely would miss it. The update should come one day, but I do not vouch for it. It would also not surprise me if no update will come. Which would be sad since then we will never get a full Olivia route.
Until the update or the abandoned tag come, whichever will be faster, we should listen to the "advice" from Pulp´s "Disco 2000": "Let us met up in the year 2000, by the fountain down the road..."

I believe the abandon tag can comes after 3 months silence. Which is actually in one week. So maybe he will write something to prevent it.

Edit: It seems developer has now added an option to view unseen scenes making gallery unlocker useless. Cheat mod should be universal, hence this shouldnt require updates moving forward.

You don't need it. All the scenes are available in the base game with a built in scene unlock. There are also multiple built in play modes like "casual" that allow you to get double points, or even one that ignores all point requirements.
There's also no "canonical true path" or "unlock maximum sex scenes" choices - there are a number of mutually exclusive routes/choices which result in different scenes.
Best advice is to just play and enjoy the experience making your choices that are accurate to your MC's personality - the results will be coherent with who you are trying to be.

At least he's not scamming I guess. But honestly, it's kind of annoying there's been like no communication on this. It's not like he's working on his other game either--which tbh, wasn't a hit at all.

Personally, I think that MrSL has decided to avoid forums etc because he chooses to spend his energy on making progress quietly.

There is very little value to him in reading forum posts when every message is just "when is it coming out" or even worse "is he a scammer?".

He announced his goal - a "late Jan 2025" target, and said he was going to pause billing for existing P*trons.

He is not milking anyone - he has paused billing. So there is no negative to us fans except some disappointment that we do not get to play a continuation of the awesome NIF story. He does not owe us anything - every p*treon supporter or "early access" buyer must know that they are not buying a finished product. It is a way to support a creator but is NOT a subscription to guaranteed releases.

All we can do is wait, there is no positive effect in complaining.

(Note: I have previously been contributing to NIF as a helper for some time, but I don't have any inside information beyond the fact that I also have not received new communications from him for about three months. That last communication was a congratulations to me that I am working on my own attempt to make a game, and that he was also targeting a similar date for a release as me (which was Jan 2025). And actually, I am nowhere near ready to make a release so... I can't judge anyone!! )

I am sorry to say, but I think his other game Decked in Love pulls our devs focus from Nothing is Forever (it's a new project and as such more fun to work on). And while I love this game the new project isn't for me at all. Unfortunately being such a different game I am sure will not be positive for the current supporter base which in the long run probably will lend to even longer production cycles.

Though who knows, there's been no messages on Patreon since he decided to pause billing until the release of the 0.8 version (kudos for pausing billing I must say).

I really doubt this is the case; it's a lot easier to pump out an AI CG game in theory especially if you aren't the hold up but rather someone else on the team is or might be (or there's a failure to expand the team or integrate a new team member). However, actually pumping out solid quality AI CG images and integrating them in such a way that they actually look reasonable quality is exceptionally difficult and atm probably just as demanding on your GPU.
I'd guess it depends on the issues at play; if the lead dev was a coder and writer and the hold up is related to a 3d artist (which is what I'm baselessly guessing the issue is) then Decked in Love is a way to show you as a dev team are still active but it is a bad look.

As far as I know, the developer does everything alone. Well, except for one person who helps him correct the text after writing or something like that.
