Keep in mind that stencilibits isn't making a ton of cast on Patreon like famous milkers, plus he has a daily work and works on the game when he has some spare time.

That was a bug fix.

The last story update was June/July 2019.

It was Amy's story.

According to the updates, there hasn't been an update to this since last August so nothing at all this year.
It's been a loooooong time. I first installed the game October 2019 (hospital stay, so I remember acutely), and that install already had the Amy route in it back then. Sooooo... It sounds like in the past year they added android support and corrected spelling.

A year+ between significant content updates is just ridiculous.

For the record, I think it's a spectacular game, I just take issue with the development cycle.

That's been my issue for 2 years now. The game is fantastic but I don't rate the devs work ethic very highly.
For many developers, creating games and visual novels is mainly a hobby, not a source of income that plays a significant role in their budget. It depends where you live, but I think in most western countries less than $ 2,000 in net income is not something that covers basic needs like food and housing and other necessities. And only a small percentage of adult game developers make more.

I disagree here. It's more than enough if you're not a wasteful person!
I'm from Germany and it's surely okay if you've ~1.500€ (1.750 $) net income in a month. And if the rent isn't too much (you can live here -depends on city- as single in a ~400-500€ 1-2 room appartement), so you can more than "survive" with ~1k € leftovers.
Yeah, it's not a luxurary life, but though, with ~2k $ you can buy more things than just rent, food & necessities.

Monthly Update: Bored Edition

Time flies and the month is about to change which means it's time for the good, old monthly update. This time is pretty much straight flying towards 0.4 as I mentioned in the last update.

As a quick reminder, a quick technical test release should be out at some point between October 12 and 18 (mostly just because that's the week I will be having a short break from my new job). This will just test some new tech stuff including videos and experimental 3d-stuff. If no major issues come up, early Patreon release should be at some point after that.

Other than that I will be releasing more content as usual and I'll probably speed up the pace as the release crawls closer. Also the $10 special series continues.

Like before, I'm not going to take any Patreon payments until 0.4 is out (I'll temporarily suspend my Patreon at the end of each month until then). It takes some stress off me so I can hopefully make a solid release and finish things properly.

The rest of the post is a mostly copy and paste from my last update for those who are new or want to be reminded what will be coming next. See you in the next post, thanks for your support!

---

So, TL;DR:

* Possibly some new tech in 0.4: interactive 3D and pre-rendered movies, at least a few of each. When I get the pipeline (and my skills) working smoothly, next releases should have more.

* Test release planned at some point before the real release, testing animations etc.

* After 0.4 I will try out a bit faster release schedule with partial updates instead of releasing large, complete routes that take ages to finish. We'll see how it goes.

* Steam release at some point after 0.4 is out. Steam has been pretty random with adult games, so who knows what can happen.

Just because you can live with that in Germany doesn't mean everywhere is like that you can barely cover rent with that where I'm at. Hence Depends where you live. There is a world outside of Germany you know.

He said "western countries", Germany it is, so I gived an example. You can give an another example with your country.
And yeah, you can pay in Germany 2k or 3k € for a rent too, but that was not the topic.

Bermuda the cheapest you can find in a poor area for a Studio is 1500 $ (the BMD is equal in value to USD) if you can find anything less than that you would be extremely lucky. On average rent for a Studio is 1800 $.
Bermuda is also western country.

What is this discussion here? With the patrons the dev has he can't make a living out of it either way so the game is a hobby and not every person treats a hobby in a way that they spend hours after work on their hobby. I don't know if stencil has a family, which would also need extra attention.

To end your discussion: No one, with a normal job that pays good, will quit his job for developing if he earns below a certain threshhold and even then its not necessarily a smart thing to do because the income from patreon can break away pretty fast and fluctuates often.
