VN Ren'Py Completed One Night Stand [v1.0] [ONS]

Ok, so they decided to part ways almost a year ago, that was a pity. Have been playing Japanese Adult Novels (ero-game) since early 2000s, and started exploration into ren'py titles since last year following the downfall of the Japanese VN industries.

As someone who have experienced some of the best titles of the Japanese titles, the western titles on a whole, in term of story telling, are a mixed bag. Among them, only a handful worth playing (IMHO, of course), like 10 or less, and excluding those that don't even have a proper ending, there are only like less than 5 titles got GREAT writing, and One Nigh Stand is one of them (Leap of Faith and Acting Lessons are also great, but other than that not much come to my mind that I can wholeheartedly recommend without any hesitation).

IMO, too many VNs are focusing too heavily on the adults content and really lacking in the story telling (To the point where multiple things would initiate a red flag when I start a new game, such as a 18 years old protagonist, starting with moving into a house with multiple beautiful girls). In contrast Arisushi have some really great story telling skills. A lot of details about Elena in such a short story, there are some in-depth portrait for the personalities, why she will end up in the bar, etc.. Going the story rich route isn't the easiest way to become successful commercially and I wish Arisushi and JuniorTheJunior best of luck.

Yeah, it is really unfortunate. On the bright side, they are still hard at work producing adult games. I think Arisushi has a couple games in development shared on this site, while you can follow JuniorTheJunior's works on his discord channel ( I don't have discord so I never checked ).

On a related note, there are different kind of adult games but this site doesn't really makes a distinction between them. There is the rich story narrative or character driven with adult contents like this, and on the opposite end of the spectrum, fetish themed games typically known as porn games, where this type predominantly featured the horny pervy 18 year old male protagonist and most likely makes up the majority of games on this site.

So, it is not an easy undertaking to find gem such as this one. Hopefully the new tagging system which I think will go live January 2024 can make it easier for many. For now, just be extra-cautious with games that featured 18 year old male MC.

That's correct, One Night Stand did indeed have a sequel, called One More Night, which was text-only, in PDF format and written by the original author Arisushi and was being published on their Patreon page, before that was deleted.

I unfortunately don't have the final iteration of One More Night so that I can share it with you here, so unless Arisushi can do that, we are out of luck!

It is indeed still being worked on, though I am currently taking some time off Discord to fully focus on writing and figuring out the entire script of the VN - while also chipping away at some workflow and visual and programming stuff. Finally played this today after months of recommendation from people. It's definitely worth it. I really have to commend the writer and designer on creating this product. Yes, at times the writing seems a little off-pace and while I thought the 'One More Night' PDF would help, it actually introduced more questions and confusion rather than closure for me. I was under the impression the 'creep' approach was the canon one, but with 'One More Night' out there I'm not so sure anymore. Needless to say, I think the writer knows how to convey her thoughts and feelings well.

The images are amazing, they fit the whole 'blur fetish' photography is having nowadays. Close-ups, important details. I'll be following both of their endeavours to see what happens, but (aside from the glaring orange filter, which could be a stylistic choice) Junior's work is probably more my style. Either way, it's a great product. I wish more of what was made was like this.

Hey, that's right. I can't give any release windows yet, but I've been mostly focusing on writing the entire story beforehand, and it's beginning to come together. After that, I'll be moving on to the rendering and coding (for which I've already laid the foundations while working on the story).
Just making sure I am fully satisfied with the story before I move on, and so we've also minimized potential problems down the road.

About the two routes, my memory is foggy, but I don't think I have/had a "canon" route on my mind.

(Long before ONS happened) David, as a person, had "processed the loss of a loved one differently" in each route.

That was the reason why he behaved so differently in said routes. So, to me, both of them are valid/real interpretations of David.

Since I wanted to write a more happier saga about sex and BDSM, I just continued with the lighter-toned route for "One More Night". That's all

(Also, the "dark" route ended on the perfect note, I don't think I could ever write a sequel that could improve upon it.)

While my review might feel a bit stern, I need to stress that the quality of your product is very high - way higher than the overall quality in the scene. Just wanted to put that out there to make sure everyone understands this game (and concurrently One More Night in PDF form) is a pleasant experience.

What triggered my curiosity most is that when you actually go out of your way to prey upon Elena, David reflects it onto the loss of a loved one quite literally. I loved that, it showed how much of scarred person he is. Two hurt people who try to have an intimate night together while their pasts catch up to them. Looking forward to next projects you're writing/developing because you have a striking talent for describing situations and feelings, especially so in a feminine way. You both have shown so much promise with this project that people would do well to make note of both of you. Glad there are people like you bringing quality to the community!

When you've taken the time explain their stance in such detail, the stern parts of the review are also just as welcome as the appreciative ones. It is those parts directly help to either see our own flaws, or understand how the player views our work. (In this case, it was the former.)
