Build 0.21 Patch Notes

AUTHOR'S NOTE
Thank you for your patience! Build 0.22 has just been uploaded to itch.io! Here's a particularly meaty update with... I believe three sex scenes? I wanted to finish a scene with Orsu as well, but it's half-written and 0.21 has already been delayed for so long. I've decided to just wanted to pump this out first and leave our big bear Guildmaster for 0.22.
Speaking of that, we're finally coming to the end of Rajt's arc. It's been a long time coming, and this port-city has taken so much longer than I thought it would. But at least, when viewing the end product in retrospect, we've really constructed a sprawling city filled with experience and encounter. That's a good thing, right? In any case, the end is actually in sight. I've cut out a lot of menial things, and now we're left with a spare few items before the big finale.
More importantly, I think I'll take a break for the rest of November. I've spent the past week finishing up 0.21, but now I have 3 exams coming up in the next 2 weeks that I haven't had time to revise on. Can I squeeze in an update? Probably... but I've needed a break for a long, long time, and I think most of y'all have noticed that.
Here's how this is going to work:
(a) Build 0.21 will be considered an early $5 patron release for November. This means that there was 'no' update for $5 patrons in October, which is technically true.
(c) Translating this over, $3 patrons will receive no update at the end of this month; Build 0.21 is the delayed update, and $3 patrons will have to wait as well. Then in the next month of December, the free public will also enjoy a delay before receiving Build 0.21.
(d) Basically, this delay will slowly trickle down to each tier, which will make it fair for my $5 patrons who pledged for a 2-month advance access.
Hope that works out for everyone! In any case, this also means that I'll have even more time for the upcoming Build 0.22 update in December. I don't think I'll be taking another internship for my winter vacation — so that leaves more time to work on OIHS. Thanks for your understanding and patience, and I hope you enjoy 0.21

That's quite a convoluted releasing schedule.
I'm glad the dev decide to progress the story and remembering it's still a VN at heart, before get lost in the "free Roaming Shenanigans" many other games suffers. Can't wait to see what happens next

Yeah, I'm remembering why I dropped this from my Patreon list.
The only difference is the dev seems to be like "oh but it's okay cuz I'm delaying the free and lower Patreon tier" instead of, y'know, APOLOGIZING for technically scamming people out of a month (which is significantly worse than warning people there won't be an update next month).
PS: Just to be perfectly clear, I'm not trying to dunk on the game, I just think the post that went out with the update is a very bad stance to have.

OIHS has been progressing at a *snail's* pace for awhile now, sometimes getting 1 or even 0 new scenes with side stuff spreading as much as LD does, and it costs 5x as much to get the newest build. It's also getting significantly less flak than LD does. This is looking more like Lilith's Throne (where the dev just doesn't care and hasn't put out a meaningful update in over 2 years) than Lustful Desires TBH, and it's really sad.

These are some of the reasons I tend to not support many VN artist, they always tend to forget or not care of the direction of the game and tend to do too much. Later they burn themselves out and say "I'm not longer passionate about this project", blaming some external factor and never admitting fault. I'll hold out some hope for this but there's 2 things they NEED to finish fast before progessing the story and those are the slums, we beat the head priest but nothing more and the tiger guy (from the doungeon) and how he found us

Lol, That's why I called it convoluted cuz I bet many of us didn't even realise what he hs done cuz of the two tier early access.
I know this game quite late, so didn't realise the changing of it's development pace.
Good for you to call it out, what you listed is really some red flags for the dev not being genuine, especially when he call a small update "big and meaty".
That't one reason I don't back projects. I hv no problem to buy the end product, but don't have the money to throw around for "possibilities".
I don't think it's wrong if the dev want to monetise his work differently, but upfront and integrity is very important.
I don't like doing it, but I've been following some of these games close to their inception. This one's newer and I've been around for about half of its development, and man, it's just... outside of Lilith's Throne, it's probably *the* slowest game to date. Anyone comparing Lustful Desires to this is doing LD a huge disservice (yes, LD has slowed down too, but it's also been going on for over twice as long, if not longer, with *MUCH* more backlash and accusations sent their way, and the main guy isn't even a native English speaker). LD I still gladly support because it's a dollar for the latest build, and Hyao (LD dev) also said in advance when he needed a break. OIHS is FIVE times as much for the latest build, with no warning, just a "haha this is late, so I guess there was no update last month, kbai", which is basically acknowledging that they scammed people for a month. While LT's dev puts out bullshit shitty excuses on literally every patch (all bullshit for "I don't feel like doing it"), at least they do it in advance, instead of just leaving you in the dark.
Oh I have no problem with that, it's the fact that they didn't say anything in advance. That and the game's nowhere near worth $5/month, given how little you get for it.
I mean same. I rather hate subscription models. It's fine with LD though cuz it's a dollar, that's not gonna break the bank. five though? That's a touch concerning.
TL;DR: Fuck LT dev, really annoyed with OIHS dev, and while LD has been declining, I still think Hyao's a good boy, just getting burned out and tired of the haters.
Dev seems to have a cycle of disinterest, then flooding content in a few months, then disinterest. I vaguely remember Hyao promoting this game way before it's proper release. Difference is, back then they can afford stopping on a whim because they didn't really have any support, now they have hundreds of backers on Patreon. Wonder when those people will catch on to the bs.

The content seems getting less and less in each update. Is it gonna be abandoned? I think we are still in "chapter 1" of the whole story, right? I mean the main story (the quest or test to become a mage) still incomplete and it's seems the plot is stuck in unnecessary side story.
Maybe it won't be abandoned but it lacks direction right now. In the city the game is very open but you still need to complete the side content to get through other side content, so it could have been made more linear with more choices in between.

Haven't played this game in a while, seems like things arn't going too well? I was waiting for some Zad content, but it seems like he's been sidelined...Did his nude/cum sprite ever get used in game (I know its been in the file for ages)?
Honestly with the ways things are going, while I seriously hope not, it looks like the actual main plot has been already completely abandoned. I mean the only thing relating to actual plot that's been developed has been the experiments at the mage association and the talk with the women with charm magic. Everything else is either not important what so ever or just seems tacked on just for sex. I mean even the first plot about the racial problems has been completely forgotten, to the point that even completing the church side quest doesn't advance anything with it

- The game lost track in the freeroaming (aka. only fillers of porn), and it's getting old
- TBH, all these games really could use some project management
- The dev charged Patreon but not give them anything (for 1 month?), didn't address/apologise for it, just say "Haha, you get nothing last month, but who don't pay will get nothing for the next 2 months, so we are even."
- Tho the dev said he will finish the freeroaming city very Soon™

This game is nothing special to be fair, Pyrrhus was the only selling point for me as I have a horror fetish and captive kink but other than that it's the typical wonder around and get raped with no real story line
It also suffers from the same issue LD has, where it has so many branching stories and paths and not a single one of them is resolved, and each month a different one gets updated, or a new one gets added, or a branch of a branch gets added. I swear, every month has a branch getting updated (never resolved) or a new one being added.
Another of the absolute worst crimes this game does (and plenty of other amateur VNs do) is the vast majority of the scenes are non-repeatable, causing you to have to make a thousand and one saves or keep one with everything undone so you can re-experience your favorites, which is really annoying. I wish some of these devs would look at some of the RPGMaker games (Grove and Timberwoods) or Tavern of Spear which have galleries. Any scene you've experienced (including variants like first time and repeatable) across all your save files should be saved to the gallery. This is an absolute must for every single NSFW game!
