I'm thinking here that episode 10 is still a long time to wait and there is nothing to do anyway, so you can revive the thread. Therefore, I made the top most hated characters in the game. It will be big, because there are a lot of annoying and unpleasant personalities in Our Red String! I have never met so many people in one game who pissed me off.
From least annoying to most disgusting:

10. Alison. I don't understand what's wrong with this girl. She is very intrusive, to the point that she almost rushes at Ian. Likes to interrupt other people's conversations and be the center of attention. Too focused on her problems, judgmental (Moment with Perry discussing trans-porn). In sex, she kills the mood and overreacts when Ian tries anal or cums inside her. Clicking on the fire options in Alison's scenes is not always a good idea. And yes, why does this lady look like a MILF at 27? I always skip Alison for Jeremy and prefer the more relaxed and easy-going Cherry

9. Wade. This guy just burning his life. He is still young, but already looks like a 40+ man who is tired of everything in life and his interests are beer while watching football on TV and drinking with friends in a bar. Dude! You have a top girl, just S Tier! Wade is just degrading and doesn't deserve Cindy. He looks like those marginal unshaven men who live in a trailer. Have you seen his beer belly? His jealousy looks flawed, he shows his complexes of a miserable and weak person. Wade, you will lose Cindy, I guarantee you, hehe. He will lose her anyway. Do I hate Wade? No, I just feel sorry for him. But it is better to stay away from such people in life - they pull others to the bottom with them.

8. Louise. Louise is just not very smart, naive and blind girl who likes to judge others. The most common. And even if she does not dream of getting Emma.

2. Axel. Lena's ex-boyfriend is something I wouldn't wish on any girl. Control freak dictator, domestic abuser, manipulator and stalker. Also, a hypocrite. He tries to completely control Lena's life and at the same time cheats on her. Why does he even need a serious relationship if this guy can't control his dick? To satisfy his sadistic tendencies in controlling another person's life? This scene in episode 9… caused the most discomfort and understanding that this would not happen in my playthrough. Axel is a sadistic and control freak, Lena is his slave in this scenario. Lena's Will points burning down to zero and no matter how many of them were in stock confirm this theory.

1. And here he is, the main villain. Seymour Ward. The oligarch, small business killer, blackmailer, abuser. At first, it may seem that this person replaces Arthur from GGGB. But it's much worse. This man is the main trouble of the city in the game. He buys out and bankrupts businesses with Parry's father, the city's mayor. He pulls the strings like a puppeteer, deciding the fate of people. For example, the situation with Lena. He fires Lena from his restaurant, blocks her opportunities to work in the modeling business. Seymour does this with one goal - to get Lena for himself personally. And he does it like a maniac. He threatens to ruin Ian and Lena's lives, blackmails them. He even threatens to block her Insta and Onlyfans (I think he is overplaying, social networks are too big a fish for Seymour, and as far as we know, he is just a city oligarch). This is a terrible person and I can imagine what is going on in his head. What is there to talk about: his idol is Friedrich Nietzsche. The man who brought Nazism to light. The scene at the end of episode 9 with Seymour is the second one, after Axel, that causes dislike. Of course, I'm interested to know how things will turn out if Lena signs a contract with Seymour. For players who choose this option, Seymour's true face is not revealed in all its glory. I will leave this option, but it will never be canon for me. My canon - Seymour Ward is sentenced to 25 years in prison for corrupt deals, blackmail and extortion, sexual assault. Get ready, Seymour. The vacant Harvey Wahnstein job is waiting for you.
Approximately such a list of antagonists turned out. It's not very good to start with an anti-rating, but there are really a lot of characters in the game who need to wash the dice. If Ian doesn't give a damn about his own parents basically disowning him, Perry can't do the same, because their opinion still matters to him. If they believed in him and showed their support, then he would turn out differently. The dude was basically a rockstar in high school. And he could probably be a famous singer by now if the rest of the band didn't bail on him, removing the one thing in his life he was good at and had passion for.

There are plenty of people paying for Vanilla kinked games or for games with a narrower kink portfolio. Many of those games earn big money. Go look at the top 50 games on Patreon - a majority of them have either a narrow kink scope and/or a hefty vanilla component.

I'd never patreon for ORS myself. Despite the fact that the several routes I do like are masterfully done- there are simply far too many routes I don't like at all. Paying for 30% or 40% content in a 6 month to a 1 year dev cycle sounds like a big rip-off.

Not saying ORS should change its jive. It is the 64th ranked game by number of patreons. But, I think you are grasping on straws when you are trying to claim that Vanilla isn't a popular kink amongst porn game consumers or that indie games 'have' to have wide kink portfolios to be successful- The data definitely doesn't support your claims.

But most of the game that you all said making better money than ORS still doesnt had only pure vanilla story in it right? I mean they had other fetishes in the game so the player who likes that can play the game too, like the player can choose how they want to play it, and some of the successfull pure vanilla game out there had their own strength that makes their game better than other game, like the art or the story and music, so that people pays for that 3 aspects...

Well she has no friends at the beginning of the game and she goes into conflict, only not in the form of open confrontation like Perry, but in the form of resentment and avoidance. Well, no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to like Perry. This guy is just annoying at every turn and every dialogue. But I will get over myself and someday try the way where Ian helps Perry with self-esteem and socialization. I'm just wondering how it ends.

My previous big post with the anti-rating of characters caused a controversial reaction. I decided to keep sketching on the fan and make a list of characters that I like.

10. Ven. Jiu-Jitsu trainer in the gym. If you get into a fight, then his lessons will come in handy. Ven gives the impression of an experienced and wise teacher. It reminds me of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Young Padawan Ian will not disappear under the guidance of such a teacher and will kick Axl's ass.

9 Billy. He is Jeremy's friend. So far there is not much to say about this guy, except that he is friendly and open. And apparently the same womanizer. As is Jeremy. Given Lena's troubles in the modeling business because of Seymour, Billy and his new project look like a lifeline for Lena. Or as potential for a threesome. We'll see. Billy is so new that his skin colour is of relatively little concern to me. I still don't find his offer enticing yet, need to know more specifics and see what kind of person he really is.

I hope the cafe can end up in certain ways depending on what event you choose to take place there. I wouldn't expect wildly different outcomes or anything, but it'd be kinda fun if you could draw different crowds depening on Lena's choice.

So she's the cause of the biggest dramatic background in the game but also nicely undramatic?
I supsect more is to come from Cherry. Have to admit that I'm slightly more intrigued about how she'll play out with Lena than Ian, but it's a nice touch regardless.

I think very lowly of Jeremy. His ideals crack under tension and he has no game, he only gets some when the women throw themselves at him. Louise and Alison if Ian and Lena don't influence it otherwise and Lena only if you choose to. I don't find him that convincing as a player or a bro. If he actually pulled through with his professed ideals when tested I'd find him a much more interesting option and friend. Physically he is fine, hit even, but his behaviour taints him to me.

Mike still cheats on his girlfriend. Besides his physique I haven't had a lot of interest in him. Being Gillian's boyfriend would certainly make him a more interesting in terms of the story I suppose, but he feels like such a side-character at this point already that I am unsure Eva could do much to really make him interesting.

On the contrary I think Ivy cares a lot about the condemnation of society, the whole point of her character is to prove that her lifestyle is a legit one and one that shouldn't mean that she's less of a person. I'm not sure she truly does respect herself, at least not fully yet. Maybe she does, but I get the sense that her whole schtick, why she professes her ideals and impresses them upon Lena and Holly so, is that them emulating her would be a legitimising event. I at least hope that we will get to see some kind of consequence or hesitation from her at some point, it'd be fun for Ian or Lena to approve and reaffirm her commitment to the way she lives.
I wonder if she might change her dedication somewhat if Lena doesn't begin to embody them.

Another thing about Holly is that she isn't just sweet and shy, well, she is those things of course but I like that she also has some hidden desires she'd like to explore and an open mind sexually, it's nice that she's not just a completely innocent blank slate.

Without judging if they deserve "better" I'll at least say that I think Wade and Cindy will just be happier apart and with other people. No idea who that'd be for Wade, someone who shares his interests or at least his preferred lifestyle probably, I don't necessarily see Cindy as completely high-maintenance, I think she could be very happy with someone who's just adventerous and fun. She's stuck in a static situation and wants some dynamism in her life.

I like Emma. I just hope for a route with her for Lena too. I think it could be a fun way to really mix and match Ian and Lena's stories if they can both get with her in one way or another.

Perry's personality on the other hand is a mix of Emma (social but opinionated and impulsive) and Ivy (blabber-mouth, can't read the room). He is insecure because of his speech impairment and the fear of rejection. In order to change he has to put a lot of effort. And that effort is very hard for him because he doesn't believe the payoff will be worth it, because something will definitely go wrong and the world will once again tell him that he's a failure, so why even try... It's doable for him if Ian acts like a good friend and shows his genuine encouragement to him. If he doesn't, and only makes fun of him at every opportunity, yeah, no wonder why he doesn't change. He needs positive reinforcement. If you can't empathize with it, well, I'm happy you had it easier than people who have to fight various fears, insecurities and impostor syndrome on top of having to live up to some expectation of their idea of success that is different from person to person.

Exactly, that's why my headcanon Ian is always here for his buddies Perry and Wade. He grew up with these people and he knows them like no one else, which means it's up to him to help them and get their drive back.
