I'd like to answer you with a post i made here some time ago.

"I think most people here agree on Robert being a douchebag. Nevertheless Robert has some purpose and relevance in this Game.

Let me explain

1. Game Mechanics wise he provides the opportunity for a couple of Lust Points, which may be needed if you want to start Lenas Corruption early.

2. Robert provides early sex scenes which developers need if they dont want to rely on a) dream sequences or b) flashbacks; and developers need early sex scenes to keep or get the audience interested in their (porn-) game.

3. Exactly because Robert is being a Douche he doesnt railroads Lenas story too early.

4. Robert works as an early counterpart and (weak) antagonist to Ian. Lena can choose Robert one or two times over Ian which is nice for players who either
a) arent into Lena x Ian or
b) like to fight for (and eventually win) their girls (as i do: "Ganbatte (japanese for "Work hard/GoodLuck") Ian!") or
c) like some sharing or NTR vibes in their game (as omg Ian is such a wimp he looses even to a douche!)

5. For dramatic build up developers should not introduce strong antagonists (Axel) or EndBosses (Seymour) too early.
Ian (and Lena) need the chance to level up a bit before they have a fighting chance and can face them on equal grounds.

6. Robert is weak and needy and kinky, this enables us to provide ourLena with some defining traits:
a) does she give in to his demands although he has a weak character? then she may be more submissive than we thought
b) does she play his neediness and weakness against him? using him for her own goals? she may be more dominating or smarter then
c) does she like the roleplaying / cosplaying (i certainly do )? here we go
d) do u think kicking his sad butt out of her bed while she is already fucking him is one of the greatest moments in this game?

My view of Robert hasn't changed in those past months, i think he was purposefully created this way for above reasons.

I am not saying a decent, honest, hardworking and charming Robert would not have posed an interesting alternative narrative.
Since myLena shot down Mike immediately i am not sure about his role, but from what i gathered here, Mike is a cheater.

Oh my,...it is so hard to play this game because devs mix serious relationships besides annoying Robert. I can't stop when I play GGGB, but I can't engage in this game at all. It is hard to believe they come from the same dev. I believe devs did extra work to mix those relationships and make them counter each other, but I don't get the reason. Those relationships make every intimacy so heavy. I am constantly anxious about hurting someone by having sex with different roles.


Apparently, the devs set Ian and Lena's path the best one by implying they have true feelings for each other; however, this is a porn game in which I like to watch all scenes. Our Red Strings is not like GGGB, whose paths are relatively separated. Its stories are mainly about self-deprivation(meaning hurting myself rather than tangling with others). We just need to find and follow those paths in GGGB; no unnecessary serious relationships would bother us(Eric even "died" in time for our liberty...sorry to put it in this way). We can have as many sexes as we want without worrying about the consequences; some of our friends even fall with us, such as Eva in Gang's path. If we want to, we could seven marry that handsome gym boy even if we mess with many others(as long as we know when to stop) But in this game, when I play Lena, I constantly feel sorry for Ian, Molly, and Lena herself. I would be sorry for more roles when I play Ian if I wanted to see different scenes, such as Lena, Alison, Molly, Cherry, Wade...all are his FRIENDs! The game keeps reminding me that I might be hurting someone; for example, I had to confront Lena in the morning after sleeping with Alison last night(Perry leaked it as the story, I had no choice here). A porn game itself has been condemning me for my immorality all the time!

Porn games are supposed to relax people, not upset them. If I want to make serious selections, I will play Fallout 4, Detroit Become Human, etc...or I can exclude all intimacies except Ian's in this game; But in that case, why would I launch this game again? can not devs just give me the glory marriage ending?

IF i understand your post correctly, you are insinuating, that Jeremy gets a go on every female in ORS which is, i believe only true if you play the game that way. I know for sure, that i cockblocked Jeremy at least once in my playthrough (by breaking up Louise x J).
And by doing so, he never got the after party scene with Lena in my playthrough.
My experience with Alison is limited, because i shipped her with Jeremy for personal reasons (i don't like her, so i gladly handed her over to him, and she seems to enjoy it), like i tried to get Perry together with Emma, which was a success so far, because i am not into Emmas model. So there are only like 3 out of 10 females he actually boned, and two of them (Louise and Ivy) are preset from the start. I would assume you can even block Alison from him if you choose to.

So i can't say for sure, but the bigger part of your comment seems to be incorrect.

Not the game, but you with your choices. In my playthroughts the only one Jeremy get is Louise only because story starts with them in a relationship, but even her i take away from him so Lena can turn her in her sub

The main characters are connected to each other and to other characters, so their actions have consequences in one way or another and that too must be taken into account when making your choices. It is with this idea that Eva began creating this novell and it defines the relationship between Ian and Lena. In fact, the title is a reference to Chinese mythology, in which there is a Red Thread of Fate, which is a red string around the fingers of those destined by fate to become lovers and get married.

As for the statement about porn games, it's false. The best and most successful AVNs are precisely those that make you feel feelings and emotions and make you think about life. The fact this game seems to have collected and intertwined all the shallow cheating floozies
of this game world is one exagerration we can all live with, along with the fact that what IRL

For Ian, I'd say it's currently Lena, Alison, Holly, and Cindy, although Cherry might be a viable option. Emma is a possibility going forward.
