For what it's worth I thought it was a good substory, the length made the reveal worth it.
It was ended when it was supposed to be. Not to mention, when you think about it, it helps the game be less formulaic than "we did their arc, now the sex!"

It is a pain to play such a stupid MC though. I personally find this game unplayable because of it.
Yeah, if you're thinking of CJ as *you*, then there are going to be a lot of problems. Not really a self-insert kind of game.

I decapitate a hooker in this game and this is what people get upset over.
I dont see how that is a valid comparison. Character deaths can make stories more compelling and to me being upset or sad while playing a game is significantly better than being annoyed. I just dislike the trope of dense main characters and I would happily play a well written nakige with character deaths over something with a dense MC that would only annoy me.

But thats just my preferences and if I dislike something its not the end of the world. I am only expressing my opinion here because that is the whole point of having a discussion forum. I do not expect you to change anything nor would I want you to change anything - it is best when creators stick to their vision and if someone like me dislikes the game there it is no big deal.

My frustration is that it’s such a minor fucking joke in a story centered around way more serious themes (A joke that again, got resolved almost two years ago) and yet it’s still cause for “I haven’t played your game but I guess I’ll post that this was the reason I won't." despite the fact that you've had multiple people in this thread already say "He's dumb for a reason and gets much smarter later" which is completely true.

The fact that people manage to get themselves riled up enough to bother posting about it without actually playing the game isn't some rational argument.
There isn't even an argument to be had because the very thing you're upset about paid off a long time ago.

We're not arguing over some core tenant of the story, you're mad about a one off joke that existed to get Jamie to confess to CJ. That's it.

Then why are you responding to me about something you haven't read, have no idea about and have already declared you have no interest in playing? You genuinely, in 100% truthfulness, have no clue as to what the context of any of this is because you haven't even downloaded the game, you just read a post by some autist on a pirate porn site.

So what's the point in arguing with me, the author, about it?

Man, I'm not disagreeing with you and certainly won't say that your annoyance and defensiveness are not valid as a creator, but just want to urge you to try not to take some of the negative feedback from there too personally. That might lead you to a Selebus path, a lonely road of edginess and frustration. I'd hate to see this happening to you as well.

I don't think I have quite the amount of followers necessary to reach that level but your sentiment is certainly appreciated.

I only started playing the game pretty recently (and have as a result paid for every update since I caught up). Having had no perspective on how long ago that plot line was resolved in real life, I did feel it was a gag that dragged on too long in the game. A minor complaint that I normally wouldn't post about.

The issue isn't actually the criticism about the joke. It's about the way in which it was told. Compare:
- "I did feel it was a gag that dragged on too long in the game "
- "Please tell me CJ knows Jamie is a girl now ? I can't belive how long the developer wants to keep this going."

The first one is a valid criticism and poses no issue whatsoever. The second is indirectly attacking the dev and is made worse by its inaccuracy since it's not going on anymore. Hasn't been for over a year. That's why Story Anon is feeling just a tad annoyed here. A better phrasing would have been:

"It's been like 2 years since I last came to check. I hope CJ knows Jamie is a girl now? That gag dragged on too long for me."

There. No attack, valid concern, asks if it's been resolved since. That would've been welcomed by replies like "Yeah don't worry, he has known for quite a while now, you're a bit late to the party".

Moral of the story is: don't treat others poorly and they won't get mad... usually. :Kappa:

man I didn't read this thread for a week because I was worried about spoilers but I suppose it was good to avoid for another reason.

Another great update, although:
You promised an ending and there's still the denouement to come! Needless to say nobody's ever been as upset as I am now..

Ok but seriously, I was worried we'd see some kind of redemption arc here for Leah's mom and I didn't really see it which I thought was good or at least consistent - her monologue/soliloquy was actually excellent as it showed "the real her" still saw herself as a martyr even if she ultimately recognized her own hubris in this Greek tragedy of her life. She still just isn't a good person, to me, even if she convinced herself her intentions were noble. It was a more realistic sort of overbearing parenting than straight-up cartoon villainy.

I sort of had an inkling, after seeing Aguri spying on Leah/CJ in the park, that she was going to turn somehow, but idk why then.

You are the one getting riled up. Do you want this thread to only be a circlejerk? Do you think the game should never be criticized and anybody who says anything bad about it is an autist? And there is nothing wrong with opinions on a pirate porn site - you are on the same website too after all. If you want to be mad, go ahead - I dont really care. If you have a problem with my post or think it not is respectful, report it to the forum moderators. They will delete the post if it is against the forum rules. But please dont tell me what I can or cannot post.

As far as I am concerned, there is no point sitting through through content I dislike just because it will eventually be good - I might as well play other games. There is not shortage of them. It does not matter if the plot point was resolved 2 years ago - the content I dislike is still in the game. It is still frustrating enough for me to want to drop it. And it still continues to be a part of the game for a long enough time that I do not want to sit through it so I can get to the good bits. And how do you know what I have or have not downloaded? I only replied because I disliked the game for the same reasons that other guy did I have played until the point where the MC visits Jamie's mansion for the first time and I decided I did not like it enough to continue.

People have different tastes and may be put off for weird reasons. The anime-ish tropes are a dealbreaker for me. I see from some of the reviews that it becomes different later but again - I do not want to play several hours of content just to get to that point. And I never said your game is bad - I said your game is not for me. I am simply not a fan of the type of humor that is in this game. I dont know why you are so bothered by it.

Gigantic wall of text about himself.
Yeah letting that post steam for a few days over Christmas clearly shows how not mad you are.

But this is exactly what I was saying.

It's not hours and hours of the same trope, it's a joke that comes up approximately 4 times over the course of 7 hours into a currently 30 hour game and then completely stops being relevant.

And instead of believing me, the author, you decided to get mad enough over a single ESL shitpost to write a huge wall of text days later describing how much you value your own opinion or something.
