I think the game makes it rather clear that he's not deeply affected by any of the things he sees, he has an almost universally shallow affect, something also associated with sociopathic and psychopathic behavior, one notable exception is his reaction to his mother lying to him about who she did porn with, and in that case I would yet again ask the question, why does he care so much about who used to pay his mother to get fucked on video? It's because he feels personally denigrated by it.

Psychopaths having a fixation with their own mothers is also something that is actually well established, they can actually have rather obsequious attitudes towards their maternal figures, and Edwin is someone who obsessively watches videos of his mom getting reamed out by groups of guys for money, while he's talking to himself in his internal monologue about how he's going to do everything in his power to make sure she never has to be humiliated again.

Sociopaths have none or very minimum care or emotions while psychopaths and maniacs have twisted emotions and their reactions depends on how their environment or persons close to them treated them!

Edit: You know what, let's break this down from the first google search article of psychopath I found

1) "Psychopaths get bored easily" - Well no shit there, look at where Chuck frequents.

2) " Psychopaths are very charming" - He charmed his nephew into joining the club, and when Ian couldn't convince Edwin, he took it upon himself to throw on the charm at Edwin to get him to join (to say nothing of the lack of empathy it would take to be motivated to do these things to these people.)
Clearly this is an additional checkmark in the psychopathy box.

3) "Pathological liars" - I'm not convinced on this one. Maybe others more familiar and who've played the story more recently than me can give explicit examples of him lying . That said, this doesn't rule it out. This is a story after all, and unless the story calls for Chuck to lie for a specific reason to suit the narrative, we'll never know about it as it would be irrelevant.

4) "Psychopaths lack realistic long term goals." Direct quote from the article here - "While psychopaths are goal-driven, many take a carpe diem approach to long-term planning. They believe they need to live in the moment instead of planning for the future, although what goals they do have often are disconnected from any probably [sic] future. They have an inability to ground their understanding of their lives in reality. "

I'd say that sums of the Chuck we know in the game pretty damn well. Enough said there.

5 - "Psychopaths think they're superior" - Again, I think I'd file this one under the 'we don't know for sure because the story doesn't make this information relevant." That said, I think it would be hard to argue against this point. In fact, this point could be used to argue that every owner in PC is at least a borderline psychopath.

6 - "Psychopaths can switch their empathy on and off" - He does this with Edwin and Ian constantly, and this is just the glimpses we get from Edwin's (our) POV. It's not hard to imagine just how often and consistently he does this in a place like PC, or with the girls that work there.

7 - Psychopaths have a bad temper - I think our definitions of 'temper' could differ here, but surely I'm not the only one here who would say this qualifies? We've seen Chuck get 'serious' a few times now. Perhaps that's his way of a losing his temper? (again, perhaps others with more fresh, specific examples could help shore up this point)

8 - Psychopaths are sexually promiscuous

9 - Psychopaths are impulsive or irresponsible - yep.

10 - Psychopaths were problematic as children - N/A

11 - Psychopaths engage in criminal behavior - yep.

Yeah the rest of these are no brainer and I'm bored.

But here's what I find most interesting about all this - I'm no longer actually convinced Kathleen is a psychopath.

I think she's just a sadist. A piece of shit person, certainly, but a bona-fide psychopath?

No, I think that designation might belong exclusively to our dear uncle Chuck.

Pathological liar is well explained in Mr. Ripley movie with Matt Daemon everything he says is lie or incorrect even he dont know the difference anymore he starting to believes in hes own lies losing touch with the reality!

Pretty sure a threesome is in the works. Can't prove it, but if you look at the walkthrough, the points you earn and the scene between them certainly suggest it.

The problem is that - for the foreseeable future - it pretty much means to omit all additional content.

The last update was the date with Mina, you'd have to skip. The next update will be a "date" with Veronica you'll have to skip. The update after that will be the evening with Felicia, that you mostly or completely have to skip to stay faithful. Maybe after that we will return to the club activities, but everything before would wasted on someone who keeps his promise to Hana.

(This presumes that the Veronica and Felicia dates will be split into separate updates which as of yet isn't sure will happen, as far as I know)

I'm halfway joking of course... let's say in my canon playthrough (and honestly if it was irl) it would be hands down Hana... that being said no way I'm skipping all that content so I have different saves for the different routes :)

I mean...if it will end up being good, I will do an "Hana only" playthrough at some point as well, but for that the game has to be finished. :ROFLMAO:

i read the last status update, and i agree, maintaining relevancy is pretty important cuz the market of AVN is small and there are way too many games

As anticipated, we got a new dev diary today!

It's been two weeks since our last diary, so TD & GIL have been averaging 75 statics, 10 animations and ~2480 words per week over that time. In the big picture, they're currently averaging roughly 113 statics, 3.7 animations and 3160 words per week since work on Chapter 4 Update 3 began. Here are the charts for Week 15(ish):

No surprise, animations shot up as Veronica's date was concluded. Statics are still a little on the light side, but otherwise this update is relatively comparable to the norm so the release makes sense. I do hope we'll get back to multi-day updates at some point in the future, but if TD feels more frequent updates improves the process I see no reason to complain. That's especially true here, where I am exceptionally keen to see just how the MC will connect with Veronica on a personal level. The next few weeks will probably feel longer than they actually are, but that's the price of anticipation.
