This might me a hot take but i think this update was very underwhelming . So many months of wait for this . Most of the h scenes were not even H scenes . The update was basically , " Show Elias around Simulator " . And why the hell are options locked out if i chose to spend time with one person . I have to create so many saves for each option .
Hi!
Pale Carnations is a game where choices COUNT! From the beginning onward your choices shape the way our hero's story goes. And the longer the games moves forward, these events add up. Naturally there are paths no longer available or only open to you due to what you did before.
You will rise and thrive under Kath if you are playing an asshole. You will never get good relations with the Carnations if you treat them like dirt. Ian will only be your bro through thick and thin if you work on your friendship and are there for him. Sophia will only approach you if she likes you, which depends on your actions before. Hana prefers a halfway decent guy as her boyfriend, so somone screaming "I love the club" each time he can do so, will not gain her heart. And so on.
PC is not a typical harem sim where "choices" boil down to "you will meet girl C now. Yes/No". Every fan of Pale Carnations has several playthroughs saved. I, for example, have three "main" playthroughs and a couple side ones as well.

As for the "Elias Sim", I fear you missed out a lot if you believe this to be the case. We learn a lot about the Club, it´s VIP members, several other characters along with other info. For instance, Andrea is the only house girl who calls August by his nickname. While not an enormous bomb, it still is interesting why. Some events and info is only available on certain paths through the game. So it is not simply an Elias Simulator.:)

Dev Diary 104

Hello all, TD here, coming at you with a dev diary.
Currently Ch4Up7 sits at 180 static images, 3 animations, and 2,817 words.
That works out to 159 statics, 3 animations, and 2,594 words added to the project over the last three weeks.
A lot of work has been done in the background that can’t really be accounted for with numbers, but admittedly, it hasn’t been the fastest start we’ve had to an update.
The blame for that lies with me.
It’s been a struggle on my side. I’ve had (grand) tentative ideas for exhibition 3 swirling around in my head for a long time now and have been looking forward to the event since chapter 3 ended. So much so that, when it finally came to lock things in, I hit a bit of writer’s block; as it is with life, it’s a conflict of expectations versus reality. Taking something I’ve built up in my head and condensing it down to an actionable plan that doesn’t get away from us in terms of scope and size.
By this point, I have reconceptualized the games themselves a few times, knowing vaguely what I want by bullet point, and trying to make it all cohesively fit in a meaningful way. I mean that’s just writing I suppose, but sometimes it comes easier than others.
None of this is cause for alarm mind you. It’s part of the creative process and it’s happened with every update to varying degrees. I had a similar paralysis with Kat’s briefcase scene, knowing I couldn’t get too crazy with it, and wanting to make every part of it count toward satisfying some sort of ephemeral horny urge that put me on the path to writing smut in the first place.
I’ve learned over the years the trick to getting over writer’s block is just to commit to a loose plan, work on it, and readjust if necessary once you see it in action. It’s like getting you car unstuck from the mud by gradually building momentum by rocking back-and-forth.
But with your mind.
Anyway, I am starting to feel pretty confident in what we have lined up, and the more I see GIL bring it to beautiful life, the more I believe in the direction we’ve set.
To tease you a little, here is the concept for exhibition 3:
Crabs-in-a-bucket.
Thank you all for the support. I say it every time, but I am still moved when I think about how fortunate GIL and I are to make a living doing what we love. I may never know your faces or even your names, but you all have tangibly brought a joy to my life that is difficult to express. I hope the project continues to prove worthy of that.

Looks like we are getting into a proper groove here. In the three weeks since the last diary, TD and GIL have averaged roughly 53 static images, 1.0 animations, and 865 words per week. Overall, they are averaging approximately 45 statics, 0.8 animations, and 704 words per week since the presumed start on Chapter 4 Update 7. Here are the charts for Week 4:

Not a whole lot to add given we're still at the start of the cycle. As a theme, "crabs in a bucket" is certainly in keeping with the punishment games Kathleen started the week off. The real question is how the girls and our MC interact with that theme. There are lots of great opportunities here and I'm eager to learn more, but I doubt we'll get a sense of how they might pan out for some time yet. Patience is, unsurprisingly, the order of the day.

Crabs in a bucket? Never heard of that.

Warren
Easy. There can only be one king crab. It's a denial thing. Each of them want to cum buckets but whoever gets off first gets the crown.

Edwin
Crabs do that?

Warren
All they do is pinch each other all day. Then they lay eggs and die.

Edwin
How does that work within the contest?

Warren
Listen, don't ask so many questions. When Kathleen asks you to serve lobster you'll better have the butter ready. Because if she gets pissed, I'll be pissed and then we're both going to have a problem. Understood?

Edwin
I think I do.

No, I don't think I understand that. I only understood that there is a bucket and I will use that bucket to hit warren and Kat.

I know why you want to hit them. I personally would prefer to hit Kath the utmost, since Warren is a mercenary, he can be bought off, there is no such thing with Kathleen.
But when it comes to buckets and crabs, let us just say that there is a possibility for sadists to use it. Crabs are rather in-offensive animals, most of the time. Set the Carnations into a tank/"bucket" filled with crabs, that is nothing quite bad. But if someone does something that frightens the crabs, then it becomes "interesting".
Given that esp. Kath is a sadist, such a development could be possible. But I think the crab analogy in the game will be mostly that Kath is setting our 3 Carnations against each other no matter what. And it will be our decisions, how that will end.

I understand what is meant by that anology. I don't know why you are explaining me. That comment made by me is for warren and kath in the negative sense. Not for carnations. Do you want to hit them or any analogy you have to beat them.. Then please share. Im not expecting another praising comment for kath or warren.

Hmmm? What are you talking about? I never praised Kath or Warren in my post!

My best guess on the crab thing is that it is a sneaky and clever way of getting around the issue of the player stacking the deck in favour of (and/or against) any particular Carnation.

Up until now, we have had the freedom to decide both winner and loser of each exhibition. Keep that up for a third week, and we could easily have a situation with Felicia winning three in a row and Veronica losing three in a row (to rank them alphabetically). Making it a tad difficult to construct a believable story where we are going into week four with everything still to play for.

But by dedicating week three to pitting two against whoever is in the lead at any moment, uncertainty (in week four) becomes almost certain. Even if Edwin manages to nudge things a bit in one direction or other, 2v1 should be too much of an obstacle to completely overcome.

Maybe I misunderstood something, but my understanding is that there is no "winner" of the first exhibition, as it was not designed to single out one winner and two losers, but rather to put them through a gauntlet where they had to succeed in order not to lose, and all three succeeded. Therefore, there is no situation where a winner could be determined before the final exhibition in week 4.

Yeah, the first exhibition the one that won the first part just didn't had to continue for the day, if she won the full day why would the others had to compete for the rest of the day right?
