For me the only thing that would kill immersion is hearing elves with american accents. And the setting is too mideval for the west being americans to make sense
It's based on what I know of the setting from in game lore & things Tinkerer mentioned. I created my headcannon around that.
The world is 1 Pangea-like super continent split into 2 landmass. The unnamed norther continent & the southern Dark Continent. Essentially it's Afro-Eurasia. To the west there is a cluster of islands called the Elven Realm where Elves originate from. They once had a vast empire that was spread all the way to the main land but they have receded back home & have mostly isolated themselves except for trade. This could be considered similar to the British Empire.
High & Dark Elves split over disagreements over how to use magic (I kinda picture it like the Amrican Civil War but more a question on wether magic should be restricted or used for personal gain). And the fact they live on a geothermic island which allows for great wine & they make vineyards makes me think both of Greenland & Southern France/Spain.
The Swamp Elves are an isolated race who refused to return & eventually devolved into a shorter race. Their Swamp dwalling nature & the fact Caleah's clan is called "Wendigo" is why I went with Cajun, they feel like they could be Louisianans or Floridians.
This mix of cultural influences, free spirited sexuality, Imperial background & the fact there from the west is why I have the headcannon of American Elves. It's just how it played out in my head. But again you guys can follow ya own headcannon lol.
