I see what happened, this is such a jank way of dealing with language switching. The JP (default) version of the game comes unpacked and is run by Game.exe normally, while all the translated files were packed into Game_EN_修正版.exe. This might be why some people might not be able to run the game properly.

Easy fix is to just unpack the game with EnigmaVBUnpacker and replace the files, then it'll run through the usual Game.exe no problems.

It is a shame, it seems like a great game. Sometimes I hate myself for choosing spanish, german and russian over japanese or korean. At least japanese would have been useful for translating japanese "art" .

After playing this for a while I'd say it's miles ahead of the average MTL. Sure it's not perfect but at least everything (almost) is translated, it's not like many other (especially recent) MTLs where everything from options to H-status screens and sometimes even large parts of the dialog are still in Japanese.

And while there certainly are some weirdly translated parts here and there, at other times it's good enough that I forget I'm actually playing an "AI translated" game and there hasn't been any instances where I can't understand what's going in.

Since I've only played an hour or so it's possible it gets worse later on but at least in the early parts I don't really have any reasons to complain about the translation.

According to another comment in the thread it is actually edited MTL which can reach levels which is only slightly below Human translation. This editing doesn't have that sort of polishing though.

The translation is better than bottom of the barrel google translate, you can understand what's going on and what characters are saying, but the language is very stiff and it's filled with typos (which is bizarre, because that's the one thing machine TL usually doesn't have.)

Overall in terms of translation I'd say it's a 2.5/5, it's enough to play and enjoy the game but it doesn't have any real flow or energy to it and sometimes it's distractingly stiff or not at all how a human being would write it. It doesn't seem much different from an edited MTL.

Of course, I haven't played the Japanese to see if there are any errors in terms of meaning, so that might also exist.

Also why are people still complaining about censored Japanese games? That's just how it is.

I'm not complaining about it, I'm just saying I'd rather go uncensored.

After doing a proper playthrough, I feel like translation quality does deserve some credit: to me, a non-native English speaker, it actually makes some sense - granted, not a particularly difficult hurdle in theory, but one "normal" MTL clearly struggles with. Put simply, I would not take this over a proper, "professional", translation, but I would take this over the bottom-of-the-barrel "copypasted to Google Translate, then copypasted back" any day.

Cheat engine doesn't work for MV and later versions of RPGM due to how variables are handled by the engine, unless something's been changed recently.

Game does not function properly (displays text in Japanese or doesn't run at all) on certain devices due to antivirus, locale or user error because of packed .exe file. This version corrects that by unpacking the game. That's all it took to fix it. This is the full game.
If there are still issues with the game being in Japanese using this version, then you sir are a wizard and PEBCAK.
