Wait, the Dev has opted for split versions rather than better optimisation of file size, why, why would you do that?
i know this game has good quality smooth visuals but it doesn't need to be this size, even a little bit of optimising would lose 5% image quality and probably 50+% file sizes, i mean come on look at the compressed version, it's not even a whole GB.
I love pretty much everything else about this game but this decision is mad.

It's ok because Dev said "You can download in two ways : Full size file (5.2GB) and split files (1GB each file)". So you can still can download full size file. Don't worry

The problem with compressing is that some dev do a great job, like PL got compressed to 50% size with an insignificant 3% loss in quality. And some not, like Melody who only saved 20% in size but at a very noticeable 15% loss in quality.

The way I see it is i've got unlimited broadband and a high end rig, why would I want lower quality?

I think the best option was what ecchi sensei did with his week one release. Where he released 3 different versions himself, a 16.6gb uncompressed, a 4.3gb lightly compressed and a 1.5gb heavily compressed.
Because you're secretly into torture porn or want the male MC to have even less pixels so the dicks are closer to scale ?
But i'm with you on this, if you have the means why bother with the compressed versions or complaining about the normal sizes.

I have to defend the compressed versions. I have a powerful PC too, so I never had issues with file size or loading. My internet DL just sucks, and I want to download in 5 minutes and play, not wait an hour for it. To be a faster pirate, I would have to move to a different region, or wait a few years when the internet infrastructure upgrade is planned here.

Honestly, I've tried compressed and uncompressed versions of several games, couldn't tell the difference if my life depended on it.
