Ok, I feel is a good time as any to devise some sort of, like, treaty over this debacle.

First of, NTR is a very specific type of cheating fetish. It's requires a series of specific factors to count as such, and needs to be taken into account as its own beast.

The whole focus character is the loser who gets their lover stolen from them because they weren't good enough to protect them, it's their despair or impotence that fuels the fetish, either with you "identifying" as the one who has their lover stolen, or the one who is done the stealing.
You'll notice how the "stolen" has no, like, relevance in this equation, and that's because they aren't an actual character, they are a prop to perpetuate some weird psychosexual bullshit between the NTRer and the NTRed.

I was under the impression that what we refer to in shorthand as "NTR" actually includes variations, e.g. netori/netorare/netorase, and in some instances the "stolen" lover has agency.
There's a lot of subtext to that scene, but it's still a good example to compare with PV because the development of the characters is what gives the scene such emotional weight in the first place. Without all of the buildup and context, it's just sex. PV characters feel better realized than in your average VN, and that makes the NTR scenes more impactful.
TBH, the first time a saw that Griffith/Casca scene (20+ years ago), I think I was mad about it for a month!
I would guess that "ugly bastard" hentai like Kisaku The Letch was a source of inspiration for Hunter in the first place.

I think you are forgetting one important thing here. These porn games don't have the level of writing, where I am supposed to self-insert as the male protagonist, they all feel the same in general. If I am having a rough time and feel down, maybe I will watch a movie that relates to my situation to feel better or just watch something that gets me motivated in general but definitely not porn games.
I play the porn games to have a change from the vanilla porn. Reason why I don't play or understand why people play vanilla games is because you can either get that from real life or watch the usual porn.
