Abnormal keeps popping up in this thread as similar to ProjSage, and while I enjoy both (
okay, I like Abnormal and absolutely love ProjSage) I don't see the connection.
From what I've played (which probably isn't even close to the latest release) for Abnormal there are at least three significant differences:
- The Female Main Character (FMC) of ProjSage is active and the prime mover of her story. It is her thoughts, her choices, and her decisions that drive the story.
- Alternatively, the FMC of Abnormal is passive. She is acted upon by outside forces - particularly Sadie. She doesn't take action, she reacts to others.
- Player Choices in ProjSage make a significant impact on the story. True, early on the first few choices seem to only have a minor impact on dialogue, but over time those little choices completely change the FMC's thought processes, what her story is about, etc. Whether you play a "Clever Amy" path or a "Prudish Puritan" path doesn't just affect her character and options, but will always lead you to hot & sexy content you might not experience on other paths. Amazingly, the game spiraled to tracking 300+ variables and a plethora of scene variations while still hitting the key milestones. Brilliant, insane, unparalleled game design. I lost track of how many dozens of variations I've played, and was still finding new content every time.
- Player Choices in Abnormal (so far) seem few & mostly focused on whether the FMC embraces or shys away from the changes... it seems like either way she remains reluctant and doesn't really change her story or anything much about her character.
- Abnormal is very interesting, but rather slow on any sort of sexual content, and even slower with any sexual content the FMC experiences rather than just watches.
- ProjSage is very interesting, and quickly the FMC is involved in shower scenes and masturbation (vaginal & anal), etc.
Feel free to disagree. I don't know Abnormal anywhere near as well as I know ProjSage.
I do agree that Steph (FMC from Abnormal) would get along great with "Amy" (my FMC from ProjSage), and that Steph would have been a terrific side-character in ProjSage. Not sure that "Amy" would make sense as a side character in Abnormal.
Additional note: ProjSage is VERY sex-positive and open minded. Abnormal (so far) seems more reserved and kinda judgmental.
