Abnormal keeps popping up in this thread as similar to ProjSage, and while I enjoy both (okay, I like Abnormal and absolutely love ProjSage) I don't see the connection.

From what I've played (which probably isn't even close to the latest release) for Abnormal there are at least three significant differences:
  • The Female Main Character (FMC) of ProjSage is active and the prime mover of her story. It is her thoughts, her choices, and her decisions that drive the story.
    • Alternatively, the FMC of Abnormal is passive. She is acted upon by outside forces - particularly Sadie. She doesn't take action, she reacts to others.
  • Player Choices in ProjSage make a significant impact on the story. True, early on the first few choices seem to only have a minor impact on dialogue, but over time those little choices completely change the FMC's thought processes, what her story is about, etc. Whether you play a "Clever Amy" path or a "Prudish Puritan" path doesn't just affect her character and options, but will always lead you to hot & sexy content you might not experience on other paths. Amazingly, the game spiraled to tracking 300+ variables and a plethora of scene variations while still hitting the key milestones. Brilliant, insane, unparalleled game design. I lost track of how many dozens of variations I've played, and was still finding new content every time.
    • Player Choices in Abnormal (so far) seem few & mostly focused on whether the FMC embraces or shys away from the changes... it seems like either way she remains reluctant and doesn't really change her story or anything much about her character.
  • Abnormal is very interesting, but rather slow on any sort of sexual content, and even slower with any sexual content the FMC experiences rather than just watches.
    • ProjSage is very interesting, and quickly the FMC is involved in shower scenes and masturbation (vaginal & anal), etc.
Feel free to disagree. I don't know Abnormal anywhere near as well as I know ProjSage.

I do agree that Steph (FMC from Abnormal) would get along great with "Amy" (my FMC from ProjSage), and that Steph would have been a terrific side-character in ProjSage. Not sure that "Amy" would make sense as a side character in Abnormal.

Additional note: ProjSage is VERY sex-positive and open minded. Abnormal (so far) seems more reserved and kinda judgmental.

I get your point, however, I see three things which help to compare Project Sage to Abnormal:

1. The MC. Steph is a fit MC, same like Amy. Steph is also busty, same like Amy. Sure, their body shapes do not totally match, but they are similar enough to get to a conclusion.
2. Project Sage had a heavy focus on Anal (aside from Exhibitionism) and it seems like Abnormal is heading the same way with Steph most likely preserving her vaginal virginity.
3. If I would compare the start of Project Sage with Abnormal, I would see it quite similar. Because the start of Project Sage was also quite slow at the start. I never played Project Sage when it was actually developed, I only played it when it was already abandoned, but if I remember correctly, the first parts were quite tame, similar to Abnormal.

Overall I dont think that Abnormal can really compare to Project Sage. Project Sage is one of a kind and all tries to recreate it failed. However, I can see Abnormal being able to at least come close to Project Sage, especially because it is actively developed.

First of all, I like/love your comment. I have to respectfully disagree with you on one point, but there is no animosity here.

Disagree. Whether we are talking about the original ProjectSAGE or ProjectSAGEAct1, it makes with the love very early.
  • It takes very little time before Matt is spying on her ass in the shower
  • Not long after she's drinking with the bros, watching porn with them (and masturbating herself while they sleep)
  • And then there's the olive oil...
  • On the way to getting clothes there's a bit of spice on the subway
  • When she gets to the mall and is trying on clothes there are choices about how far she wants to go
  • And trying on clothes goes a LOT further than Abnormal's trip to the mall for new clothes
I admit, this sort of progression wouldn't make sense for Abnormal's FMC, but that's kinda the point.
ProjectSage and ProjectSageAct1 make with the heart-rate elevating, horny male escalating, and fuck-me-cum-in-my-pants pacing MUCH earlier than Abnormal.

THAT SAID:

It took a hell of a lot longer for Paperwork to reach 300+ people playing/interested in their game(s)...

Although, Emerald Deceivers (creator of Abnormal) does need a LOT more love/money/patrons.

Want to clarify something important.
There are a lot of good/great things about Project Sage (original or Act 1), but there is something it does that is nearly unique.
I don't just mean rare/unique among AVNs.
I don't just mean rare/unique among videogames.
I mean rare/unique among media (games, movies, novels, etc.)

Amy (or whatever you name her) ACTS.
Think about that.
Batman always reacts - the villains do something, and batman swoops in to thwart them.
Superheroes almost always (always as far as I can remember) react. They enforce the status quo after someone violates it.
Most characters (games/movies/novels/etc) are acted upon by outside forces ("man vs man", "man vs nature", "man vs self", etc)
Project Sage has the female main character ACT on her own. Her actions are rarely in response to someone else.
She has autonomy.

That is special.
That is exceptional.
That's pretty fucking amazing.

It's amazing to see a community so dedicated that it still stands strong till this day. Thank you Iceglitch for sharing Amy's astonishingly-accurate-fan card at https://f95zone.to/threads/project-sage-act-1-v0-19d-paperwork.9895/post-15973677 . Paperwork has always been our favorites and I personally hope the dev is now living a better life. paperwork A tribute to Amy:

1. I like to imagine Amy is now happy and adapted to the neighbor hood based on her last scene the dev made
amy_1_porch.png :)

2. One of my favorite scenes back in the day was when she took a bath while being talked to
amy_2_bath.png

3. With those abs, she must've had some training back in her old country :giggle:

We will always miss you, girl. :)
