Surprisingly, that works. I say it's surprising because I've tried it in other games and had to do ridiculous things like up, down, up, before it selects anything. Those games must just have bugs. It's interesting what does and does not work, though. Auto mode has only worked on some games. That's fine as I don't want to use auto mode. In one game on which it worked it sped through so fast I couldn't catch all the dialogue (yes, I tried adjusting the auto speed in the settings, no effect,) and besides I like to control the speed manually so I can pause where I feel it has an impact on my experience. Not sure about anyone else BUT
When I am too lazy to mouse I hit (Down Arrow) then (Enter) and my single choice box gets selected via KB
For my part, not to be bothered to click with the mouse, I use the arrows on the keyboard and enter to validate. If it can helpI think the majority of users who get annoyed by this are using the "Auto" function, so I'm not sure. That said, I believe Ren'Py actually has built-in keyboard functions like this, just very few people use them. Luckily, it's actually very easy for me to just give players the option to turn this off, so that's what I'll probably do.
OR... make them actual choices. There's the correct choice to advance the story and then a wrong choice. The wrong choice would cause MC to get hit by a bus, have a heart attack, fall off of a balcony, etc. and end the game. Then everyone's happy because they got a choice. The button you see on the screen, when presented alone, is obviously not presented as a "choice," otherwise there'd be some sort of decision involved. Rather, the button is merely a transitional technique that is actually coded in to help the flow of the game, not hurt it.
...
Anyway... I'll start a poll over on Patreon to see how players feel about using a "Click This" type button/selection as a more dramatic transition. If the majority of players vote against this, I will remove it... though I think there's a walkthrough mod that gives players this option already. I might also just add in the option for players to turn this off at the start of the game if enough of them vote they dislike it.
Don't you just love game overs in porn games?OR... make them actual choices. There's the correct choice to advance the story and then a wrong choice. My favorite is, "She freaked out and called the cops. You're going to jail."
If they're being serious and it's a "Game Over", I'm kinda annoyed. If it's a humorous thing? I can accept them having one maybe two in the entire game. The only way the joke works is if it's not overused.I'll never understand such game overs. A bad ending after playing all or most of the game? Fine. But a game over just somewhere in the middle of the game, that's just mean.
ran in to one of those this week, "YOU BROKE HER HEART, GAME OVER" had a good laugh en then didn't touch it againDon't you just love game overs in porn games?

Yeah, don't really understand the point of having a game where you allow the player to make choices and then offer a choice that goes to a "game over" screen.ran in to one of those this week, "YOU BROKE HER HEART, GAME OVER" had a good laugh en then didn't touch it again
Ya i don't think the devs know what they are doing anymore at this point 7 months for an update 5 months for a bugfix 4 months on Neko's and now soon to come game over choices.Yeah, don't really understand the point of having a game where you allow the player to make choices and then offer a choice that goes to a "game over" screen.
You do realize I was joking, right? There are no game overs, nor will there be.Ya i don't think the devs know what they are doing anymore at this point 7 months for an update 5 months for a bugfix 4 months on Neko's and now soon to come game over choices.
I doubt we will see game overs in Radiant unless Dammed and Alorth decided to have some twisted sense of humor due to everyone bitching for an update.Ya i don't think the devs know what they are doing anymore at this point 7 months for an update 5 months for a bugfix 4 months on Neko's and now soon to come game over choices.
It's not hard. It's a lost artNevermind, sarcasm is a... let's just say it's hard.
I think having potential failure points makes it more like a point and click adventure game than just an interactive novel.Yeah, don't really understand the point of having a game where you allow the player to make choices and then offer a choice that goes to a "game over" screen.
