Awesome game, played the fan translation ages ago and looking forward to play it again. Only thing I felt a little bad about was rance not being the first with the little oda princess and not murdering the rapists but ehh that's alicesoft for ya.

This is a crazy post, so psyched to see this - been wanting to play Sengoku again for a while, first one for myself in the series - definitely one of the best. Great gameplay, entertaining and funny story. AliceSoft is pretty dope. For those that like Sengoku, I would suggest Daibanchou (Otherwise known as Big Bang Age) by AliceSoft as well, very similiar gameplay, voice acted for the CG's if I recall.

, as it'll give you numerous tips and micromanaging strategies to almost ensure a really solid experience. That said, your first playthrough, blind or not, you'll probably do horribly, so bad that you'll barely get any score whatsoever for completing the game. That's okay, and is to be expected, but on further playthroughs you can challenge yourself to get a higher score, and you also gain the ability to try out different story routes than what the base game allowed, called IF routes. (you also get a score based on the total amount of routes you cleared)

a higher score means you can get nice benefits for NG+, which allows as much as getting commanders you previously recruited, or getting beneficial items earlier on that will help tremendously. I also strongly recommend constantly being in a state of war with at least one faction; war is a good thing in this game as it allows you to get new territory, troops, money, items, you name it. The game also encourages it by making story events happen where factions will inevitably declare war on the Oda (Rance's faction) one way or another

Basically game is the same, however it was optimized toward newer systems, now can somewhat zoom screen and also maximilize without going into full screen directly, double the image size without losing quality and unscensorship... also, game from Fuwanovel i think was bigger in size overall, this mangagamer edition is smaller in comparisson when considering data usage. Well, suits me better i guess(Talking about Sengoku only since it's the newest one).

It flows nicely and the dialogue is a lot "cleaner" if that makes sense. The one who did the fan translation had English as a second language and as such didn't have a great grasp of it. You don't really have a reason to play the the fan translated one over the new one.

Though a negative for me is the lack of censorship as weird as it sounds. Rance's dick looks so fucking weird in the CGs where it's visible. It's obvious that the original art was drawn with the knowledge that it'd be censored as per usual in Japanese games.

I would honestly recommend you to give it another shot. It's one of the best "Porn games" on the market. Just open a guide to get the action fans as quickly as possible, then finish the game once. Then you will find NG+ which opens up the world to you, you don't need to complete the main story anymore, you can pretty much freely do what you want, or follow guides to alternative stories, etc. NG+ is where the real meat of the game begins.

Initially the RNG part may piss you off, but once you have gotten used to the game, you will just understand that save scumming isn't exactly scummy in this game. You will also understand the depth of learning that can go into this game (Or the scummy things that you need to be careful of, as some things may cause you to lose certain characters, or might cause you to be unable to complete certain character stories).

I legit spent days (Actually weeks if I am fair. From morning till evening) playing this game, completed multiple stories, and even beat the demon area.

P.S: You don't need to protect areas until the fight is in a "castle" tile set, or it's the final battle of the area.

Note to everyone: Sengoku Rance is a legit 10/10 game imho. If you like RPG's then Kamidori Alchemy Master is also a similarly 10/10 game and the "Bunny Black" series is also great.

I might give it another shot, sounds like this game is really good even though it might not be my type of game.

New Playthroughs are literally meant to be hair pulling regardless of whatever set challenges you put on yourself, so I don't blame you. They truly rig the game against you in a lot of ways, like making it so that you can only get the Houjou or Uesugi faction members unless you take them both on at the same time because the Takeda faction is a dick like that, or how if you aren't fast enough (which is understandable, Mouri will absorb a couple territories you might have wanted.

Personally on any playthrough (and this isn't directed to you but general advice for everyone)
I would go for the order of Hara > Ashikaga > Tanegashima > Miko > and depending on whether or not you're on your first playthrough it diverges.

On your first playthrough I'd start focusing on waiting out until the Tenshiism sect wage war on you and then defeat them, then go for Tokugawa (hopefully you'll have the fighting power to take them because Ieyasu is a dirty fucking cheater with his stats) and Imagawa, then take on Uesugi and Hojou at the same time (but defeat Uesugi first because they take longer).

Really though, the first playthrough is just meant to be fucked up as much as possible; they stack too many factors against you to rush you towards the end and without all the benefits of more actions per turn early on you can get screwed over pretty easily.
