Most of the biggest AAA games are hacked and available after a few days and sometimes hours from the premiere. The only fact is that, indeed, on PC products, piracy is greater.

A reason some the games never come over is due to content and to reaction to Rapelay that caused a lot of outcry about it in the media and after that most companies wanted nothing to do with the english market.
Imagine CNN blaming Rance's raping behavior for being a bad example for the playersx'DXD.

AAA games
Comparing piracy of AAA games to super niche games like these? I'm sure you can see the flaw there.
By the way, i'm not throwing all blame on piracy, but it's undeniable that niche games like these (that are already expected to sell way less than AAA games) are hit harder.
Here's an interesting read about the eroge market situation in the last years:

See also this, if you wanna proof of what some companies (Eushully in this case) think of it:

There were also other articles on 4ch VNTS, but i can't find them anymore.
Also, i'm not trying to preach anything here, just stating how it is. Wasn't the question "Why japanese companies don't push their games here?" I just gave one solid reason. o_O

I am amused by such arguments, this is a game, and if someone can not distinguish it, he or she will find an outlet for his / her mental illness in a different way. Access to strong pornography is very easy. Not to mention the basic tools of murder or "direct coercion". So what are we talking about here.

Everything is for people, but for those reasonable.
Rance himself, despite appearances, is not such a bad person yet. Yes, you can find a slightly immoral behavior in his actions - after all, what he does is spiced up with a lot of humor and so it should be treated as well.

I agree with you on that but not everyone thinks that way. There is a double standard for porn in games compared to other stuff like excess violence. I do think it is wrong to not say anything about games were you violently murder people but freak out at games with rape or any games in general that feature sexual content.

There's also the piracy factor. :coldsweat:
In fact, this is one big reason the nip companies don't take much interest in the western market. Heck, the situation is so grave some companies that had drm free products are turning to denuvo now (it's not like piracy doesn't happen there as well).

I still expect more "official" translations to come up in the future though, because the eroge market is stalling and running dry there. Even some big companies (like sprite recently) are on the edge of bankrupcy.
Luckily, the Rance games are selling very well here, so i imagine the remakes translation will probably happen as well.
LOL u mean the uncrackable 'denuvo'. Thats like a "Dont Touch Sign" makes people want too Crack it and share it. It might be harder and take time but denuvo is a joke. BTW cough hate Denuvo

I am a firm believer that piracy is only an actual problem for average games or companies that ruined their reputation.
For games that have actual quality or companies that are in a good situation with their communities, piracy is a non-factor. Yes, people will still pirate those games but it is a dent compared to the amount they will actually sell.
The truth of the matter is that most people who pirate weren't going to buy the game anyway, be it because they don't have the money or aren't interested in the game enough to put money in it.

For exmaplee, Witcher 3 and Stardew Valley. Witcher 3 is a big game, from a big franchise and had no DRM at all. You cuold even mod their pirate version. Yet, it still sold extremely well based on the fact that the game is good and the devs have a good rapport with their community.

Stardew Valley is an indie game made by ONE guy. It had no DRM either and sold extremely well.

There are plenty of examples of this. Companies that make downgrades, use disingenuos trailers and engage in practices that are harmful to the consumers will naturally find their games pirates, and DRM won't save them since those people will just wait until the DRM is cracked. They aren't going to give in and buy the game because it is DRM unless they are particularly die-hard fans of the game, in which case, they were going to buy it anyway if they could.

And I didn't even go into how harmful excessive and intrusive DRM is to the industry and to the consumers. If you need evidence of that, just look at Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

CDPR played it perfectly.

They said they knew their games were going to be pirated but refused to screw over paying players with shitty DRM and that little meaningless statement instantly had people buying their games.

That and their customer support is second to none.

I lost the disks to my Witcher and Witcher 2 and they gave me free copies on GoG within 2 hours of me sending in my mail. I wasn't expecting anything but I did still have the codes so all was well.

As a kind of older person, what I miss the most are Demos.
Back 15-20 years ago when you would buy a video-game disk for 10-20 bucks and it came with a a full game and 10 demos for different games, plus a magazine that talked about those games.
Companies just lost trust in their product and started attempting to sell products before people could actually get their hands on it. Pre-orders, early access, essentially fake gameplay trailers.
The last game that did a demo recently was Prey, and it was a pretty long demo and it was a pretty decent game too.

I hear you brother as a older person myself, I see those early access crap and move on, half the time they release the games these days full of bugs and broken stuff. Back 15-20 yrs can't remember a game that had bugs or was badly broken on release. Sad time marchs on NOT always for the better, All companys thinks of is the bottom line. Looking to you EA.

As another older person I agree about demo's.

I remember when gaming magazines used to have demo disks in them with a few upcoming games on them to try out.

It's not too bad for some games that have an open beta before launch. A lot of us use those as a demo but for the most part we get nothing.

Now it's pre order bonuses, season passes, over priced DLC, microtransactions and early access. So many shitty practices.

you might not know it
I have seen, personally prefer a slightly more subdued and charming line and animations - when it comes to sexuality, but it may be ;-) I would like to see the whole series with Rance as anime. Hentai also sometimes have a whole series, although of course less often than regular ones.

I think that the Rance brand would have potential in this matter - after all, it has a lot of fans.
